How to get a Redbull code for Destiny's Exclusive Mission.

Really? Theft is easier than earning the money to buy stuff. Doesn't make it right.

So many on here are morally bankrupt. Just reprehensible. I expected better from GAFfers.

What's reprehensible is the nickel and diming Activision does to its most loyal fans of the game. The level of cartoonish evil that's been on display with this game between the $20 emotes and this exclusive mission being put behind a Redbull paywall is just unbelievable.

Well I'm ok with stealing codes because I think that they are a free bonus ON TOP of the drink you are buying and yeah it's kind of lame if they are used but really at the end of the day you got what you paid for

What the fuck though at the people blaming people that leave their doors open and getting robbed. That's not even a good comparison with this situation at all! They are on such hugely different levels I'm not sure why it's even being discussed here

Some people bought those drinks because of the codes. That's why their upset. Getting those people is the whole point of the promo.

would you be ok if someone got hold of your bank info this way and stole your money

stealing is stealing is stealing and it can't be ok sometimes and not ok other times. it's wrong 100% of the time. that is the point.

jokes on you, I don't have any money in a bank.

So far the only time I have felt ripped off is today, from someone stealing my code.

Am i fucking idiot for throwing my money at Destiny and its DLC? Probably but Its my fucking money. Until some internet crusader decided they wanted shit for free, now I am actually getting ripped off.

"I don't like this promotion so I am willing to fuck over anyone attempting to participate" is a pretty terrible mentality.
Locking a mission in a content starved game away from the entire playerbase that doesn't spend extra cash on a particular product is a pretty terrible mentality too.

Not that they're equal, mind you, as stealing the codes does seem worse to me. But its still two turds having a shit fight, and stinks for all involved.

lol, yeah the hyperbole in this thread is getting a little out of control.

Tell you what GAF, I'll go buy a Red Bull after I get off work and try a code. If it works, I'll just post it here. $2 saved.

You shouldn't.

But what you should realize is that you're not buying an energy drink for extra Destiny content. You're buying an energy drink for the energy drink.

...that's covered with text/images telling you that you get a code for Destiny content inside. It's a package deal: you're stealing part of the package and trying to justify it as some kind of consumer rights issue. You're a fucking thief, no two ways about it.

the mission is free for everyone in January.

This game, man, this fucking game. Everything around it is... I just don't know.

I actually got the game with my PS4 and haven't bought any of the DLC.
Well then consider the people who did buy the DLC, just to have Bungie throw out this US-only promotion, telling you to go out and give Red Bull money for some minor exclusive content unobtainable through any other means.

Once again, rather embarrassing that people actually went out and bought Red Bull solely for this. Promoting a terrible turn for the video game industry.

I'll tell you again. You're sitting in a thread with a workaround. Abuse it, or you're not getting anything.

Abandoning thread before things get even more out of hand.

They are La Resistance! Sometimes it's necessary to fight the establishment for the good of the people, and not conform to their energy drink prejudice.

Your comparisons are getting absolutely ridiculous. A 30 minute 50% bonus XP reward and a single exclusive mission are not comparable to your bank account information and your entire home.

30 minutes of a 50% XP bonus at the cost of your integrity.

Nope

Stealing is always wrong yes but that doesn't mean that it's all equally as bad

Obviously emptying a bank account or something is several orders of magnitude worse than stealing a code from a $2 can of red bull and it is treated as a much more serious crime as a result

Right--stealing is justifiable because the company that created the product is evil and reprehensible. I get it now. <sigh>

That doesn't justify theft.

Yep, that's all that really needs to be said.

...says the person with an avatar from a game that nickels and dimes for content.

This, is literally the funniest thing I've read all day.

Someone stole the code therefore they have absolutely no morals and are the worst person alive. /s

It's no different than the countless Mountain Dew promotions. I was going to buy Red Bull anyway, people then were going to buy Mountain Dew anyway. We got a nice perk for a game we enjoy on the side. There's no need to get so upset over a video game company cross promoting their game with a drink that their market research team determined a large amount of their player base drank.

I just feel like this is some sort of cosmic karma balance being aligned in the universe.

Put out an utterly disgusting business practice that takes advantage of the customers? Have the whole thing blow up in your face hilariously.

could the buyer of the can not just get onto bungie say "hey what the hell i bought this now the code isn't being redeemed, it's clearly not on my profile what the hell?"

Stealing is justifiable to fight the establishment for the good of the people? Hmmmm. That's an interesting perspective.

It's time exclusive. It will be free in six months.

Nope gotta have it now. Bungie and Activision are evil so it's ok to steal from some poor schmoe that enjoys redbull and plays Destiny.

Locking whole missions behind them does seem like something different. Especially in a game that needs all the content it can get.

Except in the case of this red bull promo it's not being locked behind anything. everyone who buys TK gets access to the (likely terrible) mission in January.

it's only single use.
Ah. I was under the impression that the can itself had a code which then generated another code to enter elsewhere since others have been posting different codes other than the criteria in OP. Well I still might buy a Red Bull but only because I'm pretty tired.

So are we allowed to post key generators for other kinds of games and software?
That's actually a decent way of looking at this.

It's not really a big deal. Some people who drank Red Bull get to play missions sooner than other people. I really don't see how it's a big controversy.

Timed exclusive then. Its still locking the content out behind a cross-promotional paywall. But hey, a can of Red Bull is way cheaper than buying a PS4, so there's definitely that.

And no, the scumminess of these promotions doesn't justify exploiting the code redemption, but its the kind of thing that can backfire on you. This is one of those times.

I see it as just bad timing, as the news broke out right after all the PR mess with Luke Smith and the Taken King pricing. At least to me the promotion isn't a big deal, but I can see why some might be indifferent about it.

I think it more telling how your are saying this is okay to steal and really shows your true face.

So are we allowed to post key generators for other kinds of games and software?

Yeah as long as you describe how to create a valid key in one sentence like you can for this one

and since not being able to describe your key easily is like rule fucking one of making something like this I have a feeling you won't find many games or software where you can do it

This, is literally the funniest thing I've read all day.

Glad you found that to be funny. But you need to brush up on your reading comprehension. I never said anyone stealing the code has absolutely no morals and are the worst person alive.

Read what I said again. Oh nevermind...

Does this work for the base game, or is it only extra missions for The Taken King? I've only bought vanilla Destiny a couple of months ago and I do really enjoy it, but I think they're taking the piss with their pricing on the DLC so I'm not actually going to buy any of it.

The $20 package is ridiculous, but Activision has actually shown great restraint in how they have NOT monetized Destiny. I paid $90 and got a ton of content (not enough, but still plenty for me to get hundreds of hours out of it) and there is no FTP-style content in there unlike most AAA games these days.

So how are they nickel and diming is again?

so i was walking in a parking lot and this douchebag left his sportscar windows open with cash lying all over the passenger seat

i stole a bunch then walked over to the cops and was all like "lol you can totally steal from that car, can i tell people on craigslist"

and they were all "lol yeah fuck that guy, he deserves it, keep fighting the good fight"
