Hurricane Ike Gas Price Jump???

It's gone up $.80 so far today, to reach $4.55, and I live a little south of Atlanta. I've got, like, 1/8th of a tank right now, too. I'll probably put ten dollars in on my way home from work and try and ride it out. I'm not filling up my Corolla tank for $60.

It's gone up 40 cents at most stations where I live. Yesterday, regular was $3.69. Today, it's $4.09 at most stations, with a few going over $5.00, apparently.

Yeah the wholesale price of gas jumped from $3.25 here in houston to over $4, glad i filled up the day before.

It's not up here, still $3.65 or so. Gulf Coast of Florida.

I filled up my tank at 3am this morning just in case.

My mother is at my aunt's in Owensboro, Kentucky, and called me earlier to tell me that Owensboro was at like 3.85 a gallon, but the town they were in, Evansville, was at $5. That is fuuuuucked up. And most of the places were SOLD OUT. Fuuuuuuuucked uuuuuup.

I just filled up at Costco this morning for $3.83, same as it has been for a couple weeks now. I expect it to go up tomorrow though.

It was at 3.65 or so east of Cincinnati, Ohio earlier this afternoon. I'm going to be pissed if i get out of work and it's 5.00 or something crazy.

(I need gas!)

123.7 cent per liter here in Toronto. Weird.

[That's a drop, incase people wonder WTF is happening. Still high compared to US rates though).
Er. What? Gas jumped 13 cents last night. 136 where I am. Every station was freaking out.

Why are some of you surprised and or claiming price gouging? What did you expect when all the offshore refinery's shut down and now all the onshore ones are offline.

Fortunately Texas does impose a $10K fine for price gougers, so Gas prices stayed roughly the same on my evacuation route to Dallas. About $3.50 a gallon. Sounds like the Carolinas need some gouging laws.

gas here in vancouver jumped from $1.311 on Thursday night to $1.511 this morning, now its 'down' to $1.469... fucking assholes

I live near New Haven in CT. When I was out getting groceries I took a look at prices at several stations and didn't look like there was any real rise in price. Maybe about 3 cents since last week.

The gas sitting in the tanks didn't cost them what they are charging now. So ya, that's illegal, but woooo oil companies.

President Bush, citing the damage that Hurricane Ike is causing in not only Texas, but also parts of Louisiana, said today that federal agencies will be monitoring gas prices in the midst of energy-supply disruptions to ensure there is no "price gouging
Don't worry, President Bush is looking out for you.

$1.49 a liter here in Montreal. Most expensive I've ever seen gas, can't wait for the $1.75 predictions to come true :S
