Because since about Day 3 it's been less about the tragedy and more about trying to bring an administration down.

from an exteral pov it would seem a much better reason than getting a head job, which i gather the last president was hounded for.

Truly, for supposedly the most advanced country, this has appeared as a fuck up of monumental proportions.

Well guys, it looks like Bush and papa were able to get some of that lost vacation time back in New Orleans!

May I ask what the smiley face is about?

Because this whole state of affairs is just silly now. Its passed beyond tragedy and into the realm of comedy because the stooges just can't get their act together.

Almost a month now since the hurricane hit. What is the current progress of the state of LA? Has the majority of people moved back in? All the water subsided?

The city will probably be declared totally dry tomorrow.

I'm back in Jefferson Parish, have been for about 2 weeks now. My neighborhood survived with barely any damage. I have power, clean water, sewage, cable and internet access, though , not everyone has cable/internet in jefferson parish. I'm back at work at my same job, just alot more hours at the moment.

Most of my friends who resided within jefferson parish also did alright. Businesses are all slowly opening back up in this area.

I can't comment on New Orleans though, from what I hear, mostly everything south of St. Charles is okay. Everything North of St. Charles is ruined. I have a couple friends working with contrators gutting houses. I'll toss him a camera to take some pictures.

No. Not even close. Most of the city doesn't have water nor power. Entergy is still trying to assess the damages to the infrastructure. Bellsouth is STILL trying to get the phone system resembling anything near stable. Progress has actually been very slow by all accounts of the folks who have gone there twice only to come back. This past weekend 2/15 went back because they wanted to at least try to get things cleaned up. There are insurance adjusters and communications companies all over the city just trying to get some norm back. Many stores would love to open but they can't because there are no workers and many workers aren't coming back because there are no schools, and there are no schools because Orleans Parish school board is bankrupt and applying for several billion dollars in federal assistance. There is (1) Home Depot and (1) WalMart open in the entire region and supplies are difficult to get - especially sheet rock, generators and pressure washers. I'll be heading out yet again on Friday to make another run of these sorts of items into the city.

Holy crap man that sucks :( Have you gotten together with any of the politicians and spoken to them about what more can be done? Are you in direct contact with Negen and Blanco?
