I love this place, It's like a do-it-yourself electronics Mecca. I mean where else could one actually buy the individual parts to make RCA cables or circuits or god knows what the hell else they got there.

Just today I lost the cable needed to connect my surroundsound to my PC so I blindly go to Radioshack not knowing for sure if they had what I needed, lo and behold they DID! Saved my ass! For a while there I though't I'd have to buy a new speaker system for my pc since I couldn't find the needed cable online anywhere, not even on Creative's own website (fuck you creative).

Anyone else have Radioshack success stories, or better yet horror stories?

I work there.

And I want to die.

But they've got the parts to make this PSone LCD screen into a little VGA monitor!

No offense to anyone here who works there, but every Radio Shack I've been to has the most stupid people working in retail today. Maybe it's just in the New York area, but they do not know shit. Oh, they'll totally help you want buy a new cell phone, but ask for something that's not related, and they all say the same thing: "we don't have it" or "it doesn't exist". Then it takes me about 5 minutes to find it in the store and they just give me a "I don't give a shit unless you are buying a cell phone" attitude.

Explain. I hacked a mini-av cable into a normal rca composite cable, and it works, but composite video is kinda shit.

Why the fuck do they only have 3 colors of 18 gauge wire? And where's the 18 gauge solid wire? $1.50 for 8 disconnects that are only half insulated?

I'll take my $15 multi-meter and say good day to you, sir.

Radio Shack's electronic component selection is hardly what is used to be. Every time i've been in the store, that section is always clear of customers and employees, save for the random customer who's the next aisle over and wanders in wonder what they're looking at. The section is always orderly, but they never restock it. i needed an LM3909 flasher chip and a breadboard, but they've got neither (same at two other RSs), and it doesn't look like they're getting any more.

Radio shack :( I'm sure TrippinMartian already know about this... but 2 days ago Radio shack had a pricing error on their website: 0.00$ for a home theatre system (original price was 250). Hundreds of people started buying this item online only to find out Radio Shack tried to charge them $99,999. One fellow claimed to have been charged over $1 million :lol But of course no one has a credit limit that high and credit card companies started calling and informing them about the attempted transactions by Radio Shack.

I used to like Radioshack until they started charging $30 for Sennheiser MX400 whereas they are supposed to retail for $20. In fact, 4 months back they had them for $20, those bastards.
