Man, I really don't like how they messed up Reiko's face. It's nothing I'll lose sleep over, but now she looks like freakin' Linda Blair. :\

No, seriously guys. WTF?!

That's just dumb. Why bother with the high end CG renders then? I always assume your super duper CG models are the visual you strive for as a game developer.

The Xbox3DO Reiko totally throws that out the window. It's mainly the long flat nose and eyes.

I dunno man. This game isn't looking substantially better than the PS2 version, and they're only mucking up the character designs. It's obvious all the extra processing power is being blown on screwing up the faces, in addition to adding four player mode. I hate to see what they do to Ms. Spencer and Aisha.

Still, move towards your CG models. You don't see Kojima screwing up Snake's basic appearance between games. He either looks younger or older, but it's Snake. The same should apply here. >:|

It's weird cause Uchida was saying in the interviews around TGS they are basically using the CG models for the in game stuff. I don't know what they are doing. Some parts in the newest trailer look considerably better than the PS2 version (The entrances and the "tekken" mode) and other parts look very similar (The in-ring tag stuff).

Hopefully Uchida saying this game will be one of the 360's graphical showcases will actually be true and the "60%" graphics comment is being generous. I guess we will see next year though.

Edit:

"Akari Uchida: We tried to use as much of the technical strengths of the hardware as possible. Obviously, the game is still evolving but we are trying to use all the specs of the new hardware. In terms of software we wanted to create next generation models and have four of them on screen at the same time. Models in the latest trailer are at 60% so they will be even more beautiful at completion. Normal mapping really allows us to show the flexing of muscle movements. "

And Reiko in MGS3 Subsistence still looks good! Kojima even keeps other game's characters from screwing up between games :)

What Uchida's saying, and what my eyeballs are seeing are two vastly different creatures.

Just look at the Reiko CG in that center image. If the PS3 version doesn't use that as a reference for the character model, well - I'll probably be busy playing Blade Storm. I hope. :P

I won't even get into how Dixie is all over the place either. On the PS2 that is.

In fact, it seems that most of the characters that aren't Reiko or Dixie are pretty consistent in game and in CG. Granted, I haven't seen much of RRXX, but I didn't notice anything as striking in say, Candy.

I think Akari Uchida and his character designers need to sit down and have a good long talk.

Game-Science was started in part to provide an alternative source to Magic Box. Too bad we don't update as much as Magic Box. =/

Yes, TToB, we get it...you don't like Rumble Roses XX on the 360. Just pretend it doesn't exist or something, aside from the art book of course.

You don't know? Mr. Dynasty Warriors Fan Number One doesn't know? :) It's Koei's newest series; basically Dynasty Warriors with a medievil European theme.

I don't know if anything more about Blade Storm has been announced apart from the title and the teaser trailer from the last E3.

Oh sure, I think the Xbox2 is a laughing matter; but that's not the point here. The Xbox2 doesn't by default make RR fugly. Although I wouldn't doubt Uchida and company could possibly be attempting to Anglicize the characters for the ugly American target audience.

For as much flak as I give Team Ninja, at least their characters moved towards the CG models. And got stuck there. :P

It also helps that Team Ninja's characters have less distinctive facial features than the RR characters, barring the men in DOA. Bayman looks nothing like Ryu, looks nothing like Leon. Meanwhile the bimbos all look like they just changed the hair, outfit, and scaled the height a bit. :\

I just hope the real sequel on the PS3 stays true to the original title in terms of character design. Is that too much to ask?

And Drinky knew all about Blade Storm. The nurse just forgot to bring him his pills. :P
