I almost locked myself out of my GAF account.

Well ever since a few internet security breaches from a few months back, I've opted to use LastPass to manage my passwords and used the auto-generation to create a series of complex passwords for the websites I regularly visit.

I was doing some maintenance on my PC and ran CCleaner to clean some old registry entries as well as clean up some of the excess files that accumulated like built up internet cache and just junk taking up needless space.. Naturally because all of the cookies and web cache is removed, this would automatically log me out of every single website.

Except for when I tried to log back into GAF which I keep as my homepage. The autofill entry for LastPass filled in my account details except that GAF wasn't accepting the password.

So then I try to hit the password recovery function on this website. Except I encounter a strange issue of a Image Verification that won't load. I could have emailed myself my password but because the Image Verification not working. I just decide to send an email to support.

Deciding I wasn't going to log into GAF for the time being I turn my desktop off and remember that I used GAF on my laptop last night. I turn on my Laptop and the web cache / login token / cookie was still active and was already logged in.

Oddly enough the Image Verification worked on my Laptop and managed to properly reset my password. Hopefully I won't run into this sort of mess on other websites. I like the added security of having a unique password for each site I go to, but it comes with the lack of convenience of having an easy to remember password.

Oh well I prefer the added security anyways. In any case, I hope I don't run into this sort of problem again. I'll be more careful next time.

The image thing can be a pain on some websites.

While it is a problem true, when it does not work, I'd rather it exist as an extra security layer then consider the alternative when things like two-step verification aren't available.

Not, that I have to worry about that now, but It's better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah I went through a similar ordeal when switching to LastPass and updating my passwords. It's interesting how nervous I got, haha.
