I can't seem to pull the trigger on the DS

I've been tempted to get a DS lately but for some reason I just can't pull the trigger. I think some of the factors holding me back are:

1. I already own a GBA SP and am very happy with it.
2. There are still a TON of great GBA games coming out.
3. I've tried the DS and while I like the touch screen and all, I can't get over the feeling that it's just a dual-screen GBA, with slightly upgraded graphics. It's cool but it doesn't blow me away. And with the price of a DS I can get 5 or 6 great GBA games.

Is anyone else having trouble justifying the purchase of a DS? Especially those that already have a GBA?

Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time and Mario Kart DS are very good reasons for me to own a DS. I just need the cash to buy one now. Too bad the 360 had to hit at the same time as all of the DS titles I'm interested in :( DS purchase will have to wait a month or two.

My problem with the DS hardware are the face buttons. Why are they so damn tiny? Wait for a hardware revision which Reggie confirms is coming.

You think they'd make it bigger? o_O

they have really not bothered me in the slightest, stop looking for reasons and get a ds fool

If the software doesn't compel you to buy one, then what's the worry.

Maybe wait until there's a larger library and more games on the way.

Look at the people who own a DS -- friendless, swarthy types who avidly shill for videogame mascots. Do you want to be like them?

I mean, I look at it this way: I can either get a DS + 1 game

or with the same money

get Gunstar Super Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Zelda The Minnish Cap, Final Fantasy I&II, Fire Emblem:Sacred Stones + 1 or 2 more games for GBA

So far the 2nd choice seems more appealing. But Advance Wars Dual Strike for DS is pulling me in the other direction too.

I guess eventually I would have to get a DS but now the justification still isn't there yet.

I really hate it too. It was like that on the SP. They need to make 'em like the micro/GBARegular/GBC/GBBrick's.

Actually I'm going to try and get one as a Xmas gift so this way I can live with myself knowing I didn't spend my own money on inferior hardware.

I'm 99% sure I'm finally going to pull the trigger tomorrow :(

SUperstore is getting the Mariokart Bundle (Red DS) for 178 CDN, + I can get a $30 rebate.. so thats 148CDN (~125US) for the bundle. The fact that a friend is picking one up for sure tomorrow isn't helping matters either.

I have a solution. Sell your SP. That means you can get a DS + 2 games. Maybe even squeeze in another game with the money you save from a Mario Kart Bundle if it's your type of game. You can still play all your GBA games with headphone support and better screens.

So hold off for now. Nothing really wrong with that. I highly doubt Nintendo is going to lose any sleep over you buying a selection of great games, probably at least half of which would be Nintendo titles anyway, instead of a DS.

I'm not sure what you mean by a ton of great GBA games still coming up, though. To me, there's Mario Tennis, FFIV, FFV, FFVI, Tales of Phantasia, Drill Dozer, and Mother 3 (and possibly the Castlevania 2-pack if you didn't get AoS already) and that's...
...Actually, never mind. Considering I've only owned 17 GBA games anyway, I guess I can see how 7 more counts as a "ton."
