I Don't Have a Keyboard

I don't post often, but I thought this was funny enough to justify posting, plus I thought maybe others would have similar experiences.

I've done internet tech support for Comcast for two years now. Before that I did corporate support for Ford for two years so I think I've seen a lot. Last night I was helping this woman who was maybe about 55. She couldn't get online and after verifying the modem was up and running and wanted her to check for an IP address. I had her get to the command prompt and type in ipconfig. Everything was okay up to this point. I had to repeat myself a couple times but nothing crazy. The next thing after typing ipconfig blew my mind though. I told her to press "enter". She sounded confused at this point. Now sometimes in this situation people think they should be clicking on something with their mouse so I said, "not with the mouse, press the enter key on your keyboard." She then told me that she couldn't find it. I asked her if she could find the letter "L". My thought was to guide her three buttons to the right. Well she said she didn't see "L" only I-P-C-O-N-F-I-G. I told her "no" again and said "not on the screen, it's on your keyboard, on your desk, where you type things." She had NO CLUE what I was talking about. She seriously didn't know what her keyboard was. Of course she typed COMMAND at the Run dialogue box and she was able to type IPCONFIG at the command prompt. I reminded her that she was able to type all of these things on her keyboard and she still had no idea what or where her keyboard was. After this I was super pissed and had already muted my phone and was calling her names. Then I ran down every peice of hardware that she'd have and had her point to everything until we found the keyboard which was right in front of her the whole time.

Now if this had been some kid I would have thought he was fucking with me, but she was seriously confused. What was more surprising is that she used to be a secretary at Ford.

I've seen a lot of stupid shit doing tech support but damn, this took the cake.

Wow. I work in computer repair at a local store, and I've had to guide people along in a similar fashion, it's amazing how clueless some people are....but this takes the cake. Hilarious and sad all at the same time.

I'd love to tell you this is the craziest thing I've heard... But in the end, I deal with this shit in spades.

*kills self*

I'd say something...but I can't find my keys... to my keyboard

Probably one of the more amusing things I've seen at my present job is when a guy shoved one of those mini CDs into his floppy drive assuming, naturally, that the slot was designed for it and then submitting a ticket stating that the drive didn't work. He was right about the drive not working, at least after having plastic forcibly shoved into it.
