I Don't Know What I'd Do Without Video Games

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
My life is in shambles and everything is going really bad for me right now.

On top of that I'm going to lose somebody I consider special to me.

The only thing that's keeping my head on is video games. Not even just playing video games but just even reading about them. Looking up the lore or checking out maps or researching extended universe media.

I feel it's all I have left in life and it's the only thing keeping me a little bit sane.

This video game hobby like this for you? Where you can at least escape somewhere even if you're not playing?

Sorry to hear about your rough time op I hope everything works out for you.

Hopefully you have people to talk to about stuff as well as your gaming

I don’t really play games for long stretches these days but yeah it’s nice to have an escape from reality every now and again, especially with vr it takes it to a whole new level.

Keep the heads up bro.

Video games are awesome and it helped alot of people getting through shitty times. And times always get better again, but it can take some time.

I second what Papa_Wisdom Papa_Wisdom wished you. I had a very similar period like yours back in 2012, just everything was downhill and since I don’t really drink or smoke (thankfully hardships never broke me to indulge in those on a serious basis) I played so much Far Cry 3 and the first new reboot of Tomb Raider until I got things back straight, but the games indeed helped me distract myself from the miserable side of life in that year.
What worked for me was get to terms with my situation, start making a plan on how to change the things for the he better, and sneak in some game time to distract myself from when it got too unbearable to be in the real life. Took a few months but things eventually improved and I still have a special place in my heart for these 2 titles. Good luck bud!

I’ve played games for the same reason in the past. I know a lot of people did growing up as well. I think gaming saves lives.

I feel for you, keep at it!

Games have the same effect on me, they bring me joy and happiness in ways that nothing else can.

Hang in there papito, we are all a family here so consider this your safe space

This place can get a bit spicy at times but overall I think the majority of us would be willing to give advice/comfort to a fellow gaffer ina time if need. I really enjoy this community (even as a green rat)

Unfortunately I can relate. It’s okay-ish now but I’ve been going through the darkest of times.

Don’t lose hope. Play games you love. Nostalgia is great. Bethesda’s game worlds work for me for escapism. And creative hobbies. Music. And exercise. Anything that get the endorphins flowing and get your mind out of the dark hole.

And if you’re old enough to be nostalgic over the Indiana Jones movies. Go play the new Indiana Jones game! And if you’re nostalgic over Playstation. Go play Astro Bot! Those two are like lucky pills for me. 👌

There are always better times for you awaiting right when you think it won't get better. Also, loosing people you love will be a constant in life, it's a sad part of it. There's somethings ng you can control though, it's the time you get to pass with those.

Video games are a good escape and more but if you want to get better and stronger mentally and to let go of sadness, I would suggest to do some sidequest in real life. Take care of yourself by eating healthy food, doing exercises, going outside for the fresh air and the sun. Talk to people, don't stay lonely. These things will prevent you from depression by keeping you body and mind strong.

Sorry you're going through a rough patch, Darkmakaimura Darkmakaimura . I'm glad you're finding solace in the lighthearted escape offered by videogames. I hope things get better for you. Not to be a wet blanket, but don't rely too too much on videogames as escape. Whatever your real world problems are, try to face them squarely and do what you can to address them. That's not to say you shouldn't take breaks from the stress and misery. Just don't rely too much on escape/avoidance/distraction.

Helping others can also help lift your mood, so look for opportunities to do that. Exercise, eating right, not allowing yourself to sink into pessimism and nihilism - you know the drill. Best wishes to you.
