My stores double coupons up to .99. But every three months or so they triple them.
But my secret is I buy coupons. I spend about $5 a week or every other week. I also include that in my $60 a month for groceries. I match up the sales in the flyer a few days before the sales start w/coupons that are out. That way I have the coupons in my mailbox for the sale either the day it starts or maybe a day after it starts. Plus it costs that same amount if I buy the sunday paper every week. But I get to pick out the coupons I want and use and I can buy as many as I want.
Plus the coupons I get online are higher in value that what is distributed in the NY/NJ papers.
It is a competition for me. Most of the time I just pay tax for items like Barilla pasta, spaghetti sauce, mach 3 razors (I literally have about 50 razors with over 200 refills), cake mix, brownie mix, dish sponges, bbq sauce, hefty gripper garbage bags, reynolds aluminum foil and disposable plates (I literally have storage bins filled with these items). I use a lot of plates for the cats and their canned food. That's just the stuff off the top of my head that is just paying tax on them, there is a lot more on that list.
Plus there are things called wine tags that get you $$$ off meat, poultry, seafood. But only certain states have those and I usually have to trade for them.
But everything in my house is all name brand items. Most of the time people say that I must buy cheap crappy items, until they see my cabinets.
I have been told that if I go to the store with a dollar, I can fill the cart and still have change in my pocket, which I have done many times.
My last really good trip was Shoprite had vanity fair napkins for .99 and when you bought 4 you would get $3 off your next order. Well, I had 32 coupons and used them all. So I had 32 packages of napkins (which is an insane amount) But the good part was that I had $24 off my next order - all for the price of the coupons which was $1.50.
