I feel like Skyrim does not value my time.

When "not doing those things" essentially amounts to not playing the game, then you're essentially asking me to stop playing the game.

Which is exactly what I did. So now I'm talking about it why I stopped.

But the game is not all fluff.

I mean, I definitely get what you're saying. I didn't finish it either for similar feelings, but I just think it's more to do with me and not the game.

Now, you seem to be complaining there is almost too much content. 120 hours, and not even finished half the game!! Well, I think the game has a bit more than 300 hours of content, so yeah.

They key factor is that you don't have to do everything. The goal of playing the game isn't finishing all the content. You don't have to kill all the dragons, or do all the dungeons. You are supposed to choose your favorite subset of content and playing that, at least until you are bored and then you finish the main quest if you haven't done before, see the credits, the end.

I guess the problem I have with this argument is that the main appeal of the TES games is how big their worlds are and how much content there is. If I don't take the time to experience a good part of the content that the game has to offer, then what does that leave me with? It just leaves me with a shallow game.

Also, how exactly am I suppose to figure out what my "favorite" subset of content is without playing all or most of it? Do I just guess at which ones I think would be best? Or do I just do the whole "role play" thing and just pick what makes the most sense for my character and hope for the best?

You are really reaching here, jesus christ. Stop fighting it so hard. If you are not having fun, then stop! Seriously. The game is not shallow just because you can't make up your mind!!

Bethesda puts out the same game over and over. With the same problems. YET millions of copies are sold. The casual masses like this crap. I'm playing first time through on expert and soon Master and the game is way easy at lvl 6 already.

Dark Souls 2 can't come out soon enough.

WHY does this game look like hot ass also?

I got 100 hours out of it.

It was amazing to start with but then you realise it's just a fetch quest simulator.

You played it for 120 hours and only now you complain about those mechanics?

I'd consider this a huge plus to the OP.

Most people write opinions on things they haven't played at all. This guy gave it more than a fair shake. This is the type of opinion I prefer to see.

I remember I got thrashed by folks too when I said I hate Metroid Other M even though I beat it with 100% of the items found. I got, "If you didn't like it, why'd you finish it in its entirety?" I finished it because I wanted to give my beloved franchise a fair shake before forming my opinion. I imagine it's the same with the OP.

There should be some kind of Godwin's Law for video games about how long it takes to start drawing comparisons to Demon's/Dark Souls. It's really predictable.
Then just pretend I said the Chozo Ruins or Brinstar or Sanctuary Fortress. They all have far better level design than Skyrim's shit. Good level design cannot happen if your game's goal is to have quantity over quality.

It's been said before, but Skyrim will be well-liked by The Internet again once TES6 comes out. People will talk about how much depth the world had and how neat all of the little stories that are tucked away in the environments are, and about how compelling it was to play a role in a civil war, and how TES6 doesn't even begin to live up to how great Skyrim was. Rinse and repeat for TES6 vs TES7.
Yeah, I hear quite a bit of praise for Oblivion these days.

Oh wait.
Nailed it.
