I finally bought my dream car!

Conflating the dual clutch automated transmissions in those with the automatic in a Mustang is a poor way to form an argument.

However, even if I were to take your erroneous argument at face value, track times are silly. It's about driver engagement. Maybe .5% or less of people who buy Mustangs are tracking them on a regular basis. In terms of feel and driver input, even fancy transmissions can't match the beauty of the manual. See: journalist obsession, hyperbole, and praise of the 911R.

Congrats OP.

When I'm done with my undergrad and grad school (about three years). I will gift myself my dream car, a Corvette. Specifically...a C6 Z06.

Supercar performance that's cheaper to insure than a Corolla lol.
I'm not kidding.

Those things fly....I almost killed myself in one, drive safely lol

As someone with an automatic GT, manuals are overrated. Don't care for them and never have. I get enough enjoyment driving my GT and it's plenty fast with the automatic.

Like I get that people like them, but to say "a Mustang isn't a Mustang unless it has a manual" is stupid. Unfortunately I hear it all the time, and really all it does is reinforce my stance against manuals. Maybe if people just shut the hell up about the issue, considering I didn't buy the car for your amusement.

Manuals are fun, but the killer for me is no remote start. I know its kind of a niche thing, but when its cold enough in the morning to frost my windows over, being able to just point my fob out the window and get everything defrosting while getting ready for work is priceless. Automatics are getting a lot better too. The 8 speed on my Challenger isn't too bad. Gratz on the car OP. Pretty much exactly what I was planning on buying, but I ended up with a Challenger instead. New Mustangs are damn sexy looking.

I don't enjoy stick shift and even mushy boxes change better than most humans - but I am fine with your wholly subjective preference for an antiquated solution to an old technology problem. I get that it's fun and involving and I used to enjoy it.

I have a 2015 Mustang GT I bought brand new. It really is a head turner. People are always trying to race me and shit. I actually did once (nobody was around) and I smoked him so bad.
MPG is not that bad. I get about 22mpg on city and 25 on highway

Yeah the lack of remote start does suck, they should have had it as an option years ago. Especially since they made such a big deal with the push to start feature for the 2015s.

Congrats! The new 2015 and up seem like the culmination of what Mustang guys and gals have been wanting for years.

I've owned 5 mustangs from foxbody to sn95 and a 2013. The new model's interior looks so much better.

I still kick myself for selling my 1992 LX a few years ago.

Now just don't peel out while leaving car shows, and fight the stereotype, lol.

Dude, you bought an Audi A4. I already know that you don't enjoy driving dynamics.

:P

To be more serious though, I'm not about to tell someone that their choice is worse. People often think that people want manuals because of track times or some efficiency, and I just like to inform them that the preference is entirely subjective.

And come on, conflating an actual automatic transmission with an automated manual transmission is absolutely wrong. Which is what I was talking about.

You can't remote start a manual because the car can't guarantee the transmission is not in gear nor can it push the clutch for you.

Messing with the stereo is one of those money wasters that you think is a great idea when you're poor enough for it to be a bad decision, and one of those things you think is completely unnecessary when you're old enough to be able to afford it.

New Mustang sound system is shockingly bad though. No clue if the higher end system is good, but when i test drove some 2015s it was noticeably bad.

The new tune came out a week ago and it preserves the warranty!

Only $699 gets you 25 more HP and 70 pounds of torque. It's not showing up on the Ford Performance website but supposedly if you talk to a dealer they've got it.

People seem to be saying that it really improves acceleration at lower RPMs.

Nice! Yeah my 2.0T 91 octane tune really helped with 1st and 2nd gears low rpm and pulls much harder in the 3,000-5000 rpm in 3rd and fouth. Feels like I'm up to 80mph in the same time as 60 before. Supposedly +70hp +93torque for $399, and better gas mileage as long as I don't push her too hard :)

When you guys said "Don't go to cars and coffee meetings" it is because the car is a 4 cylinder Ecoboost or because I going to crash leaving in a straight line?

Guessing the latter. New Mustangs seem to be way better, but most people aren't going to make the distinction. They're all crowd plows now. Also the asshole in the newer GT350 almost taking some people out a few weeks ago doesn't help.

See porsche with the 911 R only having a manual. Upcoming gt3 will have a manual too because their buyers demanded it. Viper acr with a manual can best even p1s and 918s on a track.

I know the stick is slowly dying but that doesn't mean they aren't awesome.
And the Viper would be even faster with a semi automatic.

I have the 2.7L twin-turbo ecoboost in my truck, and it's a beast for a small engine. I can't imagine that kind of power in a mustang. You're going to love driving it.

Great looking car. Nice choice.

Preference for manual is like preferring a piece of art drawn by a human versus something made a Brother laser printer. You can make all the arguments you want for efficiency but it's all about appreciating the technique.

As they're both engineered components, I'd consider them both artworks made by humans.

A better comparison would be does a doughnut made by hand taste better than one made with identical or comparable ingredients on an automated bakery line.

I know lots of people will scoff at the engine, but I'd totally thought about this car as well. Especially for the UK where fuel isn't cheap - the Ecoboost actually makes it manageable as your primary car.

A bit jealous, OP, though I'd struggle to live without my BMW's handling.

I'd recommend a pioneer head unit, I think most now a days have android auto/car play which works great for nav. I love JL audio but they're a bit expensive but the clarity is great, I think kicker is also a good brand for a cheaper price.

Get two Alpine Type X 12" subs in the trunk. Enclose them in a sealed (not "ported") sub box. Get a Rockford Fosgate PM500X2 amplifier for it. Pick a stereo of your choice.

Thank me later.

My dream car is a Dodge Viper off of whatever PSONE game had one on the cover, sadly they aren't making them anymore beyond this year

I think people only scoff at the engine since the GT doesn't cost that much more, at least at new US prices. While it doesn't have the torque or the sound, a current gen Ecobeast could totally outperform any Mustang GT (in stock form) of my high school days.
To you and OP, you guys drive what makes you happy. I had a '99 Mustang V6 auto in my early 20s, and while I probably wouldn't buy one again due to personal taste, it was a very nice and fun car. Really, the only thing I didn't like about it was the reaction other people had. Well, that and those tiny wheels and giant truck size fenders. It's crazy to think how far the Mustang has come since then.

Congrats, OP. To this day I'm trying to work my dream car into my salary: Nissan 300ZX (twin turbo preferred).

But they're all so beat to hell here...tempted to just deal with it and restomod one.

Regarding the audio, I recommend first adding a new headunit, maybe with a navigation combo, and a subwoofer. You would be surprised at how much the audio improves after adding just a subwoofer/amp combo. The headunit you add should also help improve the audio quality, assuming your speakers aren't complete shit.

Difference in real world fuel economy between the two is only about 5mpg. At least going by what Top Gear magazine found. Big saving is on tax as the VED is about half over the first two years, but you're not buying a Mustang to worry about VED.
