I finally bought my dream car!

Since I was a little kid I fell in love with the Mustang so today after almost fucking up pretty bad earlier this year(Look for my other thread lol) I bought it!

Is a used 6 speed manual 2016 Ecoboost Mustang with only 5k miles in it! I know is not a gas guzzler V8 but fuck it I don't plan to drag race it or resell it a year after(I plan to keep this car minimum 7 years). I decided to opt out of the premium because I don't care about the leather seats or the driving modes. It has a performance package though.

The first two things I want to add to my car is a navigation system with a touch screen and better speaker because the stock ones are kinda shit.

What you guys recommend for an audio system? Should I add more than 4 speakers? amps? I want a decent sound but I don't want some fancy shit out of a fast and furious movies but I also don't want some shitty speakers from walmart. Any ideas?

Congratulations! Mustangs are awesome cars. Have fun and ignore the haters who will shit on your car for not being a V8.
I just ordered a 2017 ecoboost Mustang from my dealer a week ago. It'll be my second Mustang.
Love these cars!

Christ no, recent Mustang redesigns have finally corrected many of the mistakes the mid-2000 models made. Mustangs of that era had terrible suspension and spun out constantly. I drove a 2007 up until this year and I never felt comfortable driving in a light rain.
I was talking purely aesthetics lol, I agree about performance though.

Nice.

I bought a 2015 Mustang GT Premium in May 2015 but just traded it in the end of August for a 2016 Jeep Cherokee 75th Anniversary.

I loved the Mustang but it doesn't meet my current usage needs. I still miss it though and drive by it (they have it prominently displayed on the corner of the car lot) and I go past it when getting on thr highway.

My dream car would actually be a nightmare to own, sadly.

I've always dreamed about having a Countach. I just grew up loving how it looks.

Even if I did somehow get the money from nowhere, though, it would be horrible to keep up maintenance on it.

Grats on the car!

I know, it's not your fault. I launch into a tirade about the way Mustangs handle with the slightest provocation :lol

Years of spinning out in a light rain can break a man...

Anyway, OP what kind of media systems have you been looking at?

You think after a few times spinning out you would've gotten used to it and maybe been able to prevent it. My Mustang gets loose in rain or God forbid snow, but I have never spun the car around, at least not on accident. It's a rear wheel drive car, it's going to get loose in the rear. Take it easy on the accelerator until you get some momentum, they really aren't that difficult to drive in inclement weather. Of course not having summer tires on it during the winter helps.

Never had issues in my 97 GT. At least, not issues that weren't the result of me being stupid.

S550 Mustangs finally have IRS and the handle quite well, even in snow - with winter tires.

Nice man, congrats! Can't give any advice about the audio, unfortunately.

My next car is going to be a Mustang V8, I'm fairly certain. I'm currently in a 2008 Mazda 3. I only have about 112,000 miles on it, though, and I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off, so I guess I might be looking at oh...a 2025 Mustang or something, lol.

Is that the price on the windshield, $25k?

Just checked, the price for that car is $65k here in Finland.

Yes. Mustangs are usually in the 25k to 40k range brand new depending on which engine (300hp to 400hp) and other options. There are GT350 and whatever that go for double that though but those are much more powerful and aren't at all designed for being a daily driver.

You have to consider that these listed prices don't include tax/fees which is about 9% of the vehicle value. I think the main difference is that Euro countries have taxes on fuel efficiency/carbon output and whatnot.

Great car, and I totally agree with you on it being an amazing car.
Mustangs have long been my dream car... I love the new shape also.

I still have a special fondness for my BMW 3 Series (e46) Touring.

Congrats man! I'm sure that's a great feeling, someday I hope to have my Dodge Viper to feel it too.

Also, the black rims on the black body looks fantastic. I'm jealous.

Congrats! I'm an import guy but I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Mustang. It was the car that made me fall in love with cars. I was like 16 and went to a Ford dealership with my cousin to pass time (we were watching a movie next door). There was something about the Pony logo that made the car feel special. I also always thought they were expensive and when I found out that they were relatively affordable I became obsessed with Mustangs. From there I got into the Viper and then I got heavily into the Japanese import scene. I'm a family guy now so I drive a Honda Fit but I'm starting to get Car fever again.

I'd just stick to two speakers personally. Invest the money you would have spent on the superfluous backseat speakers on sound dampening and mounts and it'll sound a lot better.

6 speed manual gearbox? Absolutely hated it for city driving, huge regret. Great for non city driving though.

Getting an non stick in a mustang would be a crime. Manuals for life if you're driving anything with decent power and handling. The feel of driving is completely different, intimate vs removed.

I have a 6spd manual in my vw tiguan of all things with a tune (approx 270hp/300lb ft). Just having the manual shaves about a half second of the 0-60, better gas mileage to boot.

Op I would def tune your car if it doesn't effect your warranty, or wait until your warranty expires and then do it. Likely you can just reflash to stock for any service whee they might plug into your ecu and they won't know the difference. You will get a major power boost and better gas mileage.

Well OP, let me congratulate you, It seems that your life this year have been a little rocky, is starting to pay off your power of enduring weird situations

The new tune came out a week ago and it preserves the warranty!

Only $699 gets you 25 more HP and 70 pounds of torque. It's not showing up on the Ford Performance website but supposedly if you talk to a dealer they've got it.

People seem to be saying that it really improves acceleration at lower RPMs.

Grats!

For your navigation system, I'd actually suggest going with a head unit that supports CarPlay/Android Auto. My car doesn't have built-in navigation but plugging my phone in gives me access to Google Maps as if it were built-in. And since it's being run from your phone, you never have to worry about software going out of date; it stays as up to date as your phone is. Pioneer and Sony both make double-DIN head units that support it. I'd suggest the Sony one for Android Auto and Pioneer for CarPlay+their proprietary Apple mirroring app so you're not stuck with Apple Maps.

As for your audio, that's probably something you should be looking at enthusiast forums for. There are generally dedicated forums for each generation of car and they tend to be packed to the brim with information and first-hand experiences swapping stuff out.

I'd just stick to two speakers personally. Invest the money you would have spent on the superfluous backseat speakers on sound dampening and mounts and it'll sound a lot better.

Depends on whether the car is actually two speakers or two speakers + separate tweeters. At a minimum I think tweeters need to be there if you're the sort of person who needs something that sounds better than stock. A lot of modern cars started including tweeters even in base models and swapping just the tweeters out or replacing the crossover is sometimes all that is needed.

Wow, that's a real beauty. I find the mustangs get nicer each year.

For an audio system. I'd recommend keeping the speakers stock and adding a sub. A single 10" or 12" will fill in the bass that the stock speakers can't. If you want to get really fancy, you can swap out the stock speakers and put then on an external amp, but it's usually not necessary. I used to be really into car audio, PM if you have any specific questions :) Enjoy the ride.
