I found a dog yesterday (pictures)

I was driving to the downtown library yesterday and when I was approaching an intersection I saw a medium-sized white dog walking around the middle of the road looking confused. I was worried that it would get hit by a car, so I pulled over, opened my passenger side door and asked the puppy if it wanted to go for a ride. It said yes, and then climbed over the passenger seat and into my lap. I started to drive, at which point he started licking my face and kicked me into neutral - three times! - in an attempt to murder me. So I pulled into a nearby neighborhood and put him in the back and then drove to a veterinary clinic on the way to the library. I was hoping that he would have a microchip and they could get ahold of the owners rather quickly, but unfortunately the only thing available was his rabies tag and the company happened to be closed. So since I wasn't able to go to the library, I went to Starbucks and got a cookie for me and a small cup of whipped cream for him, because he's adorable. I kept him overnight, and now I've gotten hold of the veterinary clinic and talked to the owner; she's picking him up in a little over three hours.

I don't have the best camera in the world and the pictures are quoted for size:

A great ending! Thank you Mumei for being the person to stop and do this, and even better that you made the effort to find the owner! It's paying off. You're a great soul. Any of us dog owners who may lose our loved ones always hope it's someone like you who finds our precious dog.

I hope you keep him if they can't find the owner. Very cute dog

edit: I see you found the owner. Can you ask her how he got lost? Did he run off the leash or what? My dog likes to do that so i have him on a leash AND harness when we got out lol

YOU HAVE A TALKING DOG

MAKE IT FAMOUS

HURRY BEFORE THE OWNER SILENCES YOU TO KEEP THE SECRET

Otherise, a good happy story unless the pick up becomes a disaster/tragedy.

In talking to the owner did you find out why the dog was in the middle of the street somewhere? Did it escape from a yard or something?

Gonna join Dog-GAF, Mumei? Did this experience melt your icy heart?

Awww that's a cute dog, looks like you have it tied up in the last image though lol

I agree with derder though, kill the owners.

I get worried about the idea of returning lost dogs because it makes you question the responsibility of the owner, but if it's happy go lucky and trusting of people then they're probably taken care of well I imagine.

She said that Cody hopped the fence. :x

Pfft. I have a dog.

She's on the far right with longer hair; she's 12 years old. And yes, they have gotten along fine.

Haha. Every time he has gone to sleep like that, the veterinary leash I borrowed has wrapped around his paws. It is adorable.

He's absolutely adorable! Do you know his name?

I always feel sad when I see signs for lost dogs and I keep my eyes peeled for them, but I've never happened across one. Reading about this put a smile on my face. I'm glad you were able to help the little guy.

Bums me out too. I try SO hard to help and I NEVER see their dogs. Heartbreaking :(

giving back that dog would have been the hardest thing in my life.

he/she seems awesome.

Good on you for making the owner's day though.

great ending and I'm glad the original owner got him back! that was really nice of you.

last week my dog ran through the invisible fence because the battery in her collar must have failed. I was up till 3 am in the woods calling her and the next morning I got a call from a neighbour saying she saw the dog on the road a couple streets over from my house, so I drove on the road and ended up finding her just walking on the side of the road. it's a terrible, terrible feeling to lose an animal because it gets lost

Speaking of electric fences:

I was dog-sitting for a friend of a family member a couple weeks ago who owns a standard poodle and a sixteen year old pug. The pug is deaf, blind in one eye because a cat scratched it when he was a puppy, and blind in the other eye because he's old and had a stroke. The pug is the smart and self-aware one in this doggy family, however, because he still knows how to go to the bathroom outside. Melody, on the other hand, had been refusing to go potty outside (and had had a rather large accident inside that seemed as though she'd been holding it for at least two days before going). So, on the third day, when I took Melody outside and she did her usual schtick of hiding around the side of the house and pretending she was going potty when in reality she was just standing there, I went around the corner after her to tell her to go potty, and she tried to run past me into the house. When I blocked her path, she yelped and then proceeded to run down the hill, through her electric fence, into the fifty or so yards of forest that served as the barrier between their house and the residential neighborhood behind them and out of my sight.

She spent that entire night outside, and I spent until dark looking for her. She eventually came home around noon the next day, after hours of searching and phone calls (calling her mother was no fun) and signs were put up.

Cute dog. And your hand is sexy btw, Mumei

... Why, thank you.

Cute dog. I'm more of a cat person, but that's still a cool dog. Looks like a jack russell. Those dogs are too damn smart for their own good, my mother has one and it is the cleverest, sneakiest shit ever.

I don't think it would be possible to fangirl you more than I already do. Not only are you smart as hell, you are an amazing human being. Kudos.
