I have spent 4 months worth of time watching Smallville

That's... a whole lotta Smallville.

I enjoyed the first four seasons, but after the high school years the show's quality just dropped in my eyes.

The IMDB page for this show is hysterical. Click on the cast page and it shows every actor playing like five different roles.

Eight or nine years ago I started watching Smallville and got up to a bit into Season 5 before stopping, I can't really remember why. I think I'm going to give it another shot.

Never really followed Smallville except for the odd episode here and there, but I can totally understand binging on a TV show.

Smallville lasted during an impressive time too if I remember correctly? Like 10 seasons? Does the show still hold up well towards the end? Because a lot of shows can't maintain a certain quality after so many years have passed.

Depends. Shrinking budgets really started to show in the declining effects quality and the excuses for Clark not being Superman became more and more strained, but toward the end it really started embracing its comic rots in a way we wouldn't see again until Flash. The annual Geoff Johns guest writer episodes in the last three seasons were a comic fan's dream, but the series finale was a complete rip off.

K, captain cool guy. Thank you for blessing me with your correction.

But seriously, could you have pointed it out without coming across like a gigantic asshole? It was a small mistake from a hastily-written message. But no, latch onto it. Piece of shit. People like you are why I hate this place. You think you're so much better than everyone else.

lmao chill

I watched it until the end, first four seasons are Smallville to me, a young Clark Kent discovering his powers and fighting meteorite powered freaks as he crushes on LanaLang, listens to alternative Rock groups and has this weird relationship with Lex Luthir, and of course, Lionel.(who ended up as the big bad of the series)

Then 5 is a mess, 6 has some great moments and the others have their goodparts but jumped the shark with hilariously dtupid DC fanservice, nonsensical plotlines, horrenfous handling of the characters, etc. They werent even on Smallville at the end.

So I'm watch season 10. The episode where Brainiac takes Clark through all his "mistakes".I don't know how Alicia wasn't there but whatever. The bug guy from S1 shows up saying how Clark change his life for the better. I'm thinking you killed your mother how are you not in prison.

Also I have gotten my GF hooked she is also on the Lana hate wagon

Seasons 1 and 2 were goat, the moment when he and Lana kissed for the first time was like sweating.gif

Reckoning in season 5 was the best episode though.

Now go watch Friday Night Lights

I never watched the last seasons but man, Kristin Kreuk was awesome! Michael Rosenbaum was also ace, and let's not forget Lionel Luthor! Everyone else was trash, especially Lois Lane, what a step down from Teri Hatcher, I couldn't buy the ship with Clark...
I loved the show up to the point Lana became a witch (wtf). I now have the opening song stuck in my head, great job OP! Somebody, save me!

I loved this show for awhile. My favorite memories were when Pa Kent got powers and whooped his sons ass and when Clark tried to be cool and snatch a bullet out of the air...oops it's a Kryptonite bullet get rekt. Also Christopher Reeves episodes.

I probably stoped watching around season 5 or 6. Seems as others have mentioned they lost budget and were in constant fear of cancellation. This caused the ramping up to Clark becoming Superman only to have the rug yanked out. That combined with the teenage soap opera stuff finally pushed me away.

Out of this entire show there were maybe 40 total good episodes. It was worth watching in the end I guess but there was so much filler. And at times this show was the most soap opera bs ever. Lana lang sucks so much, and Lex Luthor was one of the only reasons I continued to watch. His character was depicted perfectly.

Final seasons when it went full on super hero was the best.

The problem with Smallville had is they dragged that shit on for 10 seasons and we never got to actually see Superman
Yes, the end he does the shirt rip blah blah
and this gonna be Gotham's problem

Look, i get it.. It's a story about Clark and that's fine for 5 seasons but 10? I watched that show since the very first episode premiered to the very last episode that premiered and it was mostly shit.

I spent 10 years of my life watching this god forsaken show. I own every season. This show is not good from Season 6-8 but I still watched. I regret it all.

So this started with my GF coming over, and I was watching Smallville. She would get frustrated because I'm always watching Smallville. It got me thinking, not including ABC family re-runs or TNT. I have gone through the show at least 20 times. I started to ball park the numbers and it came out to 126 days which is like 4 months. Is that insane? I love the show I grew up on it. I remember being 7 watching the first episode with my Dad and sadly my father past away 2 months later that year. The show is not perfect and be a Soap Opera. What I love most is how they try play them off as if they are 14. Tom Welling got like 5'clock shadow. I can rant all day on how Lana is worst character in the show. How Alicia was best for Clark and when she died it had no effect. She was hung to death and it was Clark's fault but no 10 episodes later he is back with Lana "The Snake" Lang. What show have you watched the most?
Seasons 1-4 were Smallville to me, in part bwcause you know, they were in Smallville, no endless DC filler, and because the show was a teenager Superman dealing with teenager problems and how to fit in, with his new powers, and had awesome music

After that, i remember enjoying season 6 because its focus on Lex and a few episodes more, but the rest was crap and the show lost focus :/

Its suppossed to be the early days of Superman not Superman vs Darkseid.

KK wasn't that great but she was really cute. I had a thing for Chloe though. I keep hoping the actress makes an appearance on Arrow. Also Rosenbaum on Supergirl.

Your loss.

The first two seasons of Arrow were pretty good, The Flash is great, Legends of Tomorrow has promise.

I mean, there's so much quality entertainment out there that I can't watch everything.

I'll just put the shows you mentioned under that umbrella.

Shattered episode where Lex goes crazy is one my fav episodes in the series, Micheal Rosenbaum put everyone to shame in this episode with his acting..

I really liked it, then liked it, then watched out of habit, then liked it again.

The bookends were pretty stellar every season.

Lana is the worst.
Lois is the best.

Favorite moment is from the episode Doomsday crashes Chloe's wedding. Lois is trying to explain to Oliver about some feelings she's having and Oliver calls her out on it being about Clark. Erica sold the hell out of that scene along with her dance with Clark later.

Y'know before Lana arrived and fucked the whole show back up.

I had a friend who really loved this series and made me watch some episodes of this, but it was cheap with low quality actors in my opinion.
Was there any sign of Batman or other JL members in Smallville?

I didn't finish the last season. Like, I watched it every week for 9.5 years, saw the finish line, and just said "naw, fuck it."

I dunno, I guess it just took me that long to realize that it was obligation and I didn't really like the show. Seasons 9 and 10 were definitely a big improvement over the horrid, almost unwatchable 8th season, but by that point I had just mentally checked out and no longer cared about any of the characters.

Can't believe that show took 8 damn seasons to finally stop making me watch Lana scenes though. God, what an unbearable character after the first season or two.

That's... a whole lotta Smallville.

I enjoyed the first four seasons, but after the high school years the show's quality just dropped in my eyes.

I feel this way about Buffy. Show fell off the track when they graduated.
