Well, now that Bush has been elected for a second term... I can only hope that he'll do a better job as president then we can give him credit for.
I hope he'll find some way to turn the tides on national debt.
I hope that he'll be able to right the widening inequality between socio-economic classes.
I hope that he'll win over support of most of the world again; as it had been immediately post 9/11.
I hope that when he leaves office, that fixing social security will not be a major concern.
I hope that he'll have a good military plan that can help the US extract with relatively safety and grace from Iraq, while leaving it better then they had found it...
I hope he can do that while improving middle east tensions and lessening extremist reactionaries.
I hope he can put the environment on the right track, and help the US ratify the kyoto protocol that he backed out of. Or help draft a new improved protocol.
I hope that he takes measures towards more long term friendly goals, such as promoting, much more so than he has done so, alternative fuel sources.
I hope that he can unite rather that divide the people of the world.
I hope that he can be a vehicle for better understanding and more temperance in the world.
I hope that despite the campaign strategy to dumben down and divide the people of america and rally them on relatively superficial issues, that he can promote a more complex and informed view of the world to the people that live in it.
But I can't realistically believe he'll achieve any of these things given his record in office already.
