The thing is, I don't know WHY I got fired. I worked there for 1 week, and I did everything they wanted me to do. They hired me as a clerk, but they made me do things such as delivery, things I wasn't prepared for. I called my boss to know the reason, but he hasn't called back yet. But man that sucks.

I can see the problem already. You had a crappy attitude. Most jobs are multirole positions. Clerk type jobs should expect to do various things such as delivery. If you "weren't prepared" to handle something as simple as delivery in a clerk type person, you're not ready to have most jobs. Clearly your supervisors saw your attitude and cut you off before you became a liability.

Edit:

I talked with my boss and she said that they fired me because I didn't show enough enthousiasm and wasn't mature enough. WTF I did all they wanted me to do without complaining.

Yup, that's pretty much what I expected from your very first post. Sure, you might not have stood up and said "hey, that's not in my job description," but you clearly weren't very happy about doing simple tasks that you didn't (but should've) expected to do. Your attitude is very obvious in such situations, and you'll learn to overcome that with maturity.

If they choose not to train you specifics for a job, they don't have the right to let you go because you didn't know how to accomplish that task. I'm sure there is more to the story...

Ive done retail for a while now, and while employees can be doof, training is often in short supply, communication between management and employees is usually horrible in most stores since a lot of managers dont have people skills beyond kissing the asses they needed to for promotion.

Thankfully the current store I work at is fairly rockin and not SUCKS

Training? I came back from my lunch and the boss said : You're going to *this city*(which is 30 min from my city) with the truck and trailer to deliver some tables.

What could I do? "Sorry, I can't drive a truck?"

Yeah, if they didnt mention having to drive a trailer around at all, thats sorta something that should be mentioned. Fuck, I havent even driven a car with a trailer on it before.

Your only response should be, "How fast, sir!?"

The thing is, 2 days before the boss told me : Listen, your job is in the store, the job application clearly said "Clerk", so you're gonna be a clerk.

Yeah!! Right!

Man I need to go play BF2 demo.

I miss buying stuff from you guys at Gamestop. Those were fun times. :) But every single person beyond that Chris guy that I know of working at that store ended up getting fired for some reason or another. The EBgames down the street is the same way; that's why I never bothered to apply there.

I too am ready to get the hell out of video game retail. Only a bit longer...

:lol that's awesome, but i'm surprised he didn't call the cops to arrest you for assault or anything.
This is holland i'm talking about. you can kill someone over here and get away with it.

seriously

I have a cousin who is a lawyer and a judge. He said managers can fire you without reason ( Alabama ). Since every state have different laws it may applied differently.

So, don't expect him/her to give you reason why you were fired.

My first job was at Cineplex Odeon (Movie Theatre in Canada), pretty shitty job. I didn't need the money, I was just doing it to make use of my free time and make a few extra bucks. My decision to quit was spontaneous. I had booked off a day that was a religious holiday, but when the day was nearing my manager wouldn't give the day off. When I left his office I thought for 2 min about it and decided to quit. I went to the assistant manager told her I quit. No 2 weeks notice or anything. Pretty glad I did too, the job sucked ass. Customers were so annoying and certain times stupid.

I only got fired once. Just some crappy job at a movie theatre. And it was for drinking on the job :(

Its not like I got trashed. I only had 2 beers, and I was off the clock. Not like I really care since it was a crappy job anyway, but its embarrassing because no matter how you explain that you got fired for drinking on the job you will look like a scumbag.

I had a job working the desk in a fitness center in high school (selling memberships, drinks, apparel, crap like that), then moved on to shelving books at the local library for a little more. I quit that shit not too long after (the rerence bitch -- an ancient, bitter woman -- accused me of reading in the back while I was supposed to be shelving?!? Hey maybe I was!! But if she really wanted to get me in trouble she would've barged into the men's restroom while I was playing game boy in the handicap stall) and finally gave up and got on the fast food horse by working at Arby's for some cash before college.

It's not just retail. Management is like this in most areas of employment. I can certainly confirm it at my own job. I was "scolded" for screwing up a certain client's business repeatedly, and for 6 months I requested training for this business (I had received none, everyone else had). Finally they took me back to a conference room to discuss why I continued to screw up. I got pissed and told them it was because "You still haven't given me any fucking training." I was in training two weeks later. Problem solved. See how easy it could be, manager types? Just stop talking for a moment, and listen.

My girlfriend just got fired from her job at camp on totally baseless reasons.

She was told she was fired for three reasons:
1) Being insubordinate
2) Arriving back late from her time off
3) Using her cell phone at night

It's totally baseless because:
1) Wjem sje askedher bodss how she had been insubordinate, her boss told her" I don't know. That's what I heard"
2) She didn't drive on her night off. She went and returned with two other girls. Neither of the other girls were "late", and the three of them all arrived together
3) She offered to show her boss her cell phone bill to prove she hadn't been on the phone, and the boss changed course and said "Well, that really wasn't a main reason anyway"

Shitty things happen.
