for whatever reason I thought it was a bit ridiculous to spend over ten dollars on a set of headphones.

this probably stems from all the headphones that I lost or broke as a kid growing up but holy shit guys I can seriously understand how some of you are audiophiles now. I'm hearing AND enjoying music on a far deeper level now. It really does make a huge difference.

I'm not saying I want to go down that rabbit hole and spend obscene amounts of money on audio equipment but I kind of want to get my feet wet. I can see myself getting a potentially better set of headphones soon but what I'm most curious about now is getting into improving the audio on my tv and car.

thing is I've never done anything like this before so if someone can guide me on how to get started without completely overwhelming me I'd appreciate it.

What I want to avoid is wires running all over my house or car. I imagine installing the components is easy enough but making it so that it is clean is of utmost importance to me.

I got my lg tonepro+ Hs-730 yesterday and its unbelievably good. I always thought that this kinda of audio quality was impossible on wireless headphones. Plus I got them for just 40 bucks, killer deal.

Congratulations, OP. Enjoy that. And then ask GAF what you should buy next. It really does get even better.

But again, enjoy what you have. I understand how exciting it is to hear or see your favorite things even better than before.

There's no going back now.

Just think, you could've had this instead:

Ah well, if you're going to use headphones, at least make sure they stay plugged in.

My $100 cans do the job well (Sennheiser HD 280 pro), but I've been thinking about an upgrade lately. Maybe I should get a sound card as well?

i bought the 20-something dollar ones that were on sale this week and there was a thread about it. monoprice something. i hope they're good. the most expensive headphones i've ever had were the ones that came free with my ipod.

I never realized the difference good headphones made until I left my good ones at work and had to use my $10 dollar piece of shit headphones I had used for years. It was like listening to music underwater

Is this a parody thread of the other headphone thread, or the $30 Italian meal thread? I can't tell anymore.

Those were my first pair of non cheap headphones. They're ok, but they clamp very strongly onto your head and felt uncomfortable. They also didn't sound very exciting to me. The next pair I bought was the AKG K271 Mk2. Amazing mids on those cans! Since then, I've preferred the AKG sound over Senns (I also own the AKG K601). It wouldn't hurt to check some of their models out. The Audio Technica M50 or the Philips Fidelio X1 are also quite popular.

If you listen to a lot of music, a decent set of headphones is downright essential!

A good set could potentially last decades. For example, I've had a pair of Beyer DT250's since 2008 and use them almost daily and they're still going strong. I think I'll easily get another 5 years out of them before contemplating something new.

I'd say UE 6000's are a good place to start if you can nab some refurbished, sound great, especially with the noise canceling enabled.

-$60 ~100 new,
-Noise canceler and amp built in (though youre gonna be swapping out AAAs pretty often, get a recharger).
-Comfortable as hell
-Decent Inline Mic and replaceable cable (you can get a 3.5mm splitter for about 10 dollars if you want to use these as your PC headset)

I literally *just* gave a pair away to my brother, because picked up a pair of Phillips X1's during the Amazon BF lightening deal, which I'm using the amp on a Asus Xonar U7 to run.

I think there's a placebo effect. They don't sound any better, but you think they do because they cost more money.

Same with Vodka.
