I just bought $30 headphones - what a difference!

I think there's a placebo effect. They don't sound any better, but you think they do because they cost more money.

Same with Vodka.

Thanks to a thread on GAF proclaiming the superior sound quality ("eargasms") of well sourced and built headphones (also referred to as "cans"), I ended up hastily purchasing a pair of Creative Aurvana Live headphones.

Will report back on whether or not my ears achieve climax, although the headphones I purchased aren't of the quality of those in the other thread.

Those were my first pair of non cheap headphones. They're ok, but they clamp very strongly onto your head and felt uncomfortable. They also didn't sound very exciting to me. The next pair I bought was the AKG K271 Mk2. Amazing mids on those cans! Since then, I've preferred the AKG sound over Senns (I also own the AKG K601). It wouldn't hurt to check some of their models out. The Audio Technica M50 or the Philips Fidelio X1 are also quite popular.

If you're looking for a recommendation, check out these - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0093PVTPS/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Thanks. I'm definitely looking for recommendations. The 280s are fine but hurt a bit after a long session like a movie and feel a bit weak lately when playing something like battlefield (My hearing may also be going bad).

bro-fist, I just bought a pair of CAL two days ago.

Have a pair of Sony ear buds that were about 40 bucks and a pair of Bluetooth over ear ones from Meelectronics that were about 60. Pretty happy with them.

I just bought a used pair of Denon AH-D7000. ;_;

They're discontinued and usually go for $650 and up at head-fi

I need to ban the head-fi address from my router

Naaa their big brother which costs like 11$ is the shit. Best ear buds you can buy under 50$ as reported by many tech sites. Currently using them.
Need link.

The best I have are $25 Panasonic over ear headphones. I got that recommendation here at GAF. The JVCs posted in this thread are tempting.

once you hear music on good headphones its hard to go back
stay blissfully ignorant
(until you can afford it)

I was always getting $5 earbuds at Walgreens, but I eventually got fed up with the low quality and picked up a pair of $15 earbuds. The difference is astounding. Audiophiles were right all along.

Only $30? come on son.

Maybe someone here can recommend a good pair of cheap earbuds. I would like something I can easily replace lost buds for, somewhat durable, and with play/pause button on the cord. My last pair already lost sound in one ear after about 3 months.

I purchased the ATH M50x and it gave me headaches after an hour of use and thats even after I stretched them out. ill always go with in ear headphones.

You're fairly off with anything 30-50 Sony/Panasonic/Sennheiser. I held out till some 60$ retail Sonys were on sale and haven't looked back. Sound better than some 300$ overears I've tested.

Check the post above yours. It comes with a set of extra buds. Most comfy earbuds I have used till now.

I ain't gonna lie, every time I see that $30 Italian meal posted, I think to myself that it looks pretty damn good.

Sennheiser full size cans are super comfortable and sound great, mine's lasted for years.

I regret buying Sony balanced armature earbuds though, they're so sharp they hurt my ears. Haven't even used them more than 5 hours. That'll teach me to splurge on damn earbuds.

I've been using a pair of Ultrasone HFI-580s based on a recommendation from TheExodus5 for 2.5 - 3 years. Fantastic headphones that put some high-end earbuds to shame. It's hard to go back once you hear the difference.

I tend to buy headphones in the $20-$50 range. I've bought or used some headphones up to the $100 range before. While they're definitely better headphones, I found that many of the ones under $50 do the job just fine for me. But I am admittedly not using my headphones for sound accuracy as much as I am for sound pleasantness I guess.
