The rescue effort is the WORST FAILURE in US History. It's sad. It brings me to tears.
WHY ISN'T THERE A BIGGER OUTCRY?

Can we please agree that this is just the most disgusting thing our country has seen?
The FoxNews video with Shep and Geraldo is just saddening... It's powerful... It's moving...

GET THEM OUT! GET EVERY HELICOPTOR AND BOAT IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING US AND GO GET THOSE PEOPLE OUT! MY GOD!

"Wouldnt we be better off had a storm killed all of those really poor people in NO? Wouldnt they be better off, too?" -- *cough cough* Quote from good ole OP.

I'm *sure* you can't take it anymore.

To be honest, it feels like yelling at a wall and I'm not even sure what more I could do.
Hundreds of miles away from the place, RC donations can't even fucking hit it, and the rest of the world hasn't stopped either (I'd love to give a lot more but if my bills don't get paid they're not gonna give a fuck I used the money to donate.)

join the club man. this is some fuckin bullshit. 6 fuckin days now, and still jack shit has been done, and people aren't even allowed to leave in some places. what fuckin inhuman shit is that?!

posted: in other threads

more like WORST FAILURES in the History of Everything.

seriously, as far as the government goes, this is an insult to everyone involved.

as i've said in other threads, if any of you guys have the type of job where you can take time off, or are just sitting around not doing much, you guys gotta hit up the red cross, and get out there. the people need all the help they can get..

they'll feed you, give you a place to sleep, and $150 to buy supplies (sleeping bag, flash light, etc.) before they ship you out. for the most part, you get to pick where to want to go. i may ship off as soon as tuesday.

PLEASE CONSIDER IT if it's something you can do.

We should be ashamed of our government"

I found out my town has 1000 refugees at shelters.
My girlfriend and I are going to volunteer today.

Question (and I'm not saying this to be an ass): Did it take the Fox News clip to convince you that this is a disaster? Geraldo said it best when he held up the baby. There's no spin... no Democrat, no Republican. It's real.

This is no doubt not only tragic but downright EMBARASSING for our country. We're the richest nation with the most resources and those people have been stranded there for SIX DAYS according to that clip. SIX days. They can't even instruct them to go anywhere after six days?

Makes you wonder how the hell this country could even to BEGIN to handle a huge terrorist attack (chem/bio/nuke or otherwise).

I don't think Bush's numbers are going to go up by even 1% after this, they're gonna tank even more... on TOP of what was hurting him prior to the storm. The "let me shake hands and kiss people who have been hurt by this" idea isn't working, Bush.

It's too bad I'm not closer to the south, I'd probably try to help in one way or another.

No, but it was the first time I've even began to see JUST how bad the disaster is. The video put emotion to what I knew to be true. The media is FINALLY doing what what it needs to be doing. It's checking government failures.

Dude, even fucking Fidel Castro offered 1100 doctors and medicine. A formal letter has been send twice, first one unanwsered, second one not known yet.

If accepted immediatly the first batch could have been there today

Yeah, when Fox News gets pissed at the government and military, that's a solid sign that the situation is beyond being your typical disaster. It's widespread death, suffering and chaos.

Even better, Hugo Chavez offered to send cheap fuel.

I'd like to know what Pat Robertson has donated.

i tend to think that the years of US inaction during the infantile stages of WWII was our worst failure. you know, or our inaction during the Rwandan genocide. this could just be me though.

Yah, the riots and shootings within NO is terrible enough, but the refugees just can't get a break at all. I don't know what the fuck I'd do in their situation.

The US state department said it had received offers of help from Belgium, Canada, Russia, Japan, France, Germany, Britain, China, Australia, Jamaica, Honduras, Greece, Venezuela, the Organisation of American States, Nato, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, South Korea, Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

Greece is listed twice for some reason.

World mobilises to aid US victims

More than 44 foreign governments and international organisations have offered aid to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

Sri Lanka and Indonesia, who were recipients of US assistance after the tsunami, were among the list of potential donors.

Cuba and Venezuela put aside their differences with the Bush administration to offer assistance.

The US state department said all the offers were being examined.

Returning a favour

President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela - a major oil exporting country - said he had offered to send cheap fuel.

The state department has not decided whether to accept it.

Singapore sent Chinook helicopters following a request by the US to Fort Polk, Louisiana, to help to ferry supplies and undertake airlift missions.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon wrote to President George Bush offering medical teams, saying they could be ready within 24 hours.

Sri Lanka said it was donating $25,000 (£13,500) to the American Red Cross, while Japan has pledged $200,000 and Australia, $8m (£4.3m), to the charity.

"The United States is so often at the forefront of international aid efforts to help less fortunate nations," Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said.

Developing nations, normally recipients of US aid, offered to become donors, such as Honduras, Guatemala and Jamaica.

The Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA), representing 26 countries, agreed to release the equivalent of two million barrels of oil per day from emergency reserves.

The extra supply is aimed at helping the markets deal more effectively with the disruption caused by Hurricane Katrina, said the IEA.

You might want to apologise to 44 other countries right about now.

over 60 countries have offered help, Bush and his cronies haven't given them the go ahead yet, hell even Cuba has offered help with tons of medicine and over a hundred doctors. Refugees in your own fucking country. Is this really what you people call the greatest country in the world?

Its like people are just waiting to die.

These people need help and nothing is being done, absolutely nothing, mean while Bush is probably out playing golf...SOB

anyone got a clip to that?

edit: nevermind, just saw the other thread specifically about that clip. speaking of which, why didn't you just keep your outpouring to that thread oli?

So Olimario, would you say that our Dear Leader's actions so far have been consistent with what a good Christian would do? I hear that he managed to squeeze a round of golf in on Thursday. I wonder how many people died while he was driving the fairways and putting? Or while the Secretary of State was shopping for shoes and watching a musical instead of answering offers of aid from foreign countries?

This is the equivalent of Marie Antoinette saying "Let them eat cake", except of course these people are eating NOTHING and DYING. I wish that I could say that I'm shocked, except that I'm not. There are two Americas and this tragedy drives the point home. If you're poor, you don't count for shit.

I called into the soup kitchen/shelter where I volunteer once a week and told them that I was going to be spending that day each week helping the Red Cross. I've already donated money, old clothes and supplies. I start at Atlanta headquarters on Monday, and I'm thinking about clearing out my second living room as a room for some refugees if I can get my roommates to agree. I wonder if any of the refugees will get to stay on the ranch at Crawford, now that Dear Leader's vacation is finally over with? Somehow I doubt it.

This is a lynching by negligence, and it is sad to watch.

Katarina was a direct hit on my mother's house in south florida... 11 people died there.

Obviously it wasn't as strong, but being middle class, the power was back in 18 hours.

Those poor black residents are getting the shaft... and any of the possible explainations expose the USA for a country that it doesn't want to admit it is.

Be it Bush, Clinton, Gore, Kerry... it doesn't matter who would have been President, it would have turned out this way. The problem isn't the government, it is America.

I hope this actually forces people to acknowledge the systematic de facto segregation along race and class that exists in the south and in major urban areas.

It is bullshit. I mean as an all powerful, invincible nation we have just made everyone realize that it's all a fucking shell! We are just as weak as any country in this world. We can't even do for our own...it's sick.

My hatred for society, for politics is growing by the second. I donated, i'm broke but fuck if it's going to go where it's supposed to...hell if i could i would rive a bus in and out of New Orleans until i could get everyone out...the end is near boys and girls...this is just the beginning of humanity losing faith in the human spirit...without this, all hope will be lost..

Of course it isn't. This is the worst situation I've seen. The rescue effort in NY after 9/11 inspired awe and this colossal failure does nothing but inspire tears. Where are the heroes? They heroes are stealing buses to rescue refugees and getting charges pressed against them. The potential heroes aren't even allowed in the fucking city.

In a situation like this the president SHOULD be a hero. He should be doing everything in his power and then some to save lives. He should be piloting a fucking helicoptor down there and picking up children to take to safety.

Yes but the people being labeled as just that are taking serious offense. And I do not blame them.

Exactly. Using words like refugees takes away the sting. The government is letting its own fucking CITIZENS die.

I'm with you oli. How the government fails to function in a time like this is beyond me. It is truly painful as an american citizen to watch our government fail its people.

I wish I could give more to the relief effort. :(

Yep.

This country has just been going down the spiral nonstop since the beginning of this decade.

O_O
wow

French & Algerian firemen were doing training exercises in Guadeloupe (in the Caribbean Sea).
France offered to send them. Still no answer.
It was 4 days ago.

I probably don't feel as upset as most of you because Im not American but it still hurts to see so many people being stranded and no one helping them. I feel the same way with Iraq. Im half Iraqi and seeing pictures of my people suffering, children in pain and the rest of the bullshit that happens whilst no one really helps kills me too. America should just have stayed out of Iraq because the situation there had nothing to do with them and they should have been prepared for situations where their people, american people, people who pay tax, people who work for them, people who are proud to be American are suffering. Its crazy, the most powerful country in the world and probably the richest hasnt done shit when their people need them the most.

That's fucking unreal.
Raoul for President!
It'll be the Shot-glass Revolution.

Well well well you don't get them better than this

http://stevegilliard.blogspot.com/

Ever wonder why New Yorkers detest George Bush?

Because we experienced his incompetence up close and person. We knew this guy was full of shit, absolutely full of fucking shit, after they started to play games with the funding and gave Wyoming terrorism money. We knew he was an assclown then.

We thought DC 9/11 was a comedy, because the Bush we saw hid in AF One like the scared bitch that he is.

But did you listen?

Fuck no. Until last week, Ann Coulter was calling New Yorkers cowards for not endorsing Bush's folly in Iraq.

We have been screaming for two years that Bush and his team sucked. That they had no clue. They sent soldiers to be wounded in Iraq without armored anything. And you idiots cheered him on from the safety of your keyboards. We told you he was fucking up Iraq. But no, we supported Saddam, we were racist, we blamed America.

You say this isn't about politics? Fuck you, this IS politics, real time, real life politics, where the insanity of all your ideas are exposed to the world for the fraud that they are. Tax cuts kill. Ask the relatives of the dead of the Gulf Coast.

Well, motherfuckers, the alligators are feasting on dead **** and there isn't an Iraqi in sight. And Bush is trying to gladhand his way through a mess which has stunned FOX reporters. I mean, Shepard Smith is calling Fox's talking heads liars ON THE AIR.

CNN rips Bush in print and online after nearly five years of sleep.

Instead of hearing what we had to say about Bush, you called John Kerry a coward, mocked Max Cleland, blamed everything but herpes on Bill Clinton. You enabled Bush into this mess and now you're shocked?

Now, Fox can be outraged, now, Wash Times and Union Leader call Bush weak? Well, his coward ass disappeared in 2001. But you rather blame Michael Moore for that.

He can't even explain the Iraq war to a grieving mother.

So what did you do?

Write the most vile things about her and her dead son. Attacked her patriotism and her honesty.

Well, motherfuckers, and that means you, fat ass Goldberg and your master, Rich Lowry, PNAC Bitch Beinart, the racist wannabe white Malkin and the little fucktards at LGF, Bareback Andy and "Diversity" Instacracker, all you backstabbing, fag hating uncle tom ministers, you can see Dear Leader in action. America's largest port is gone, maybe forever, gas is $5+ a gallon and FEMA is coming. Whores come faster with old men than FEMA is getting to NOLA.

How did your wartime President react? Like Chiang Kai-Shek when the Yellow River flooded in 1944, with corrupt indifference.

Bush, the man your fever dreams built into the next Winston Churchill when he is really the live action Chauncey Gardiner, has failed to everyone, in plain sight, without question. Rick Perry is trying to save his ass, but it ain't working. NOLA looks like ANGOLA and that ain't flying.

Say 9/11 changed everything now, motherfuckers. Ooops, 9/11, 9/11. 9/11. Doesn't work anymore? Gee, maybe the sea of alligator MRE's once known as the citizens of New Orleans has something to do with that. Now you can shut the fuck up about 9/11. Bush just proved what would happen with another 9/11. Dead Americans as far as the nose can smell.

Drunken Chris Hitchens muttered some nonsense about blacks having it so good here. The poor man needs to stay in his bottle or go to Betty Ford before someone beats his treasonous ass stupid. Islamofascism means what, now motherfucker? Shove Islamofascism up your well travelled ass. The most dangerous thing to average Americans is not some mullah in Iraq, not even Osama Bin Laden, but George Bush. If he doesn't get you killed in Iraq, he'll fuck up saving your city so it turns into Escape from New Orleans. Armed junkies roaming the streets, looking for a fix, robbing and looting like Serb paramilitaries and about as sober.

George Bush's ineptitude has killed far more Americans than Osama could have dreamed of.

Some of you still try to see the clothes on the Dauphin, but he's as naked as Peter North around Jenna Jameson. Bush fucked up so bad, FOX turned on him like a rabid dog.

You can't hide behind racism forever. Bush fucked up, Bush is a weak, callous leader and the world knows this like it knows few other things. And all the stolen TV's in the world cannot hide that.

As much as I'm dissapointed in the relief effort, its pretty crazy to believe that Bush wanted it to happen or is enjoying all the suffering.

No one is saying Bush wanted this to happen, but that he just doesn't fucking care and keeps pulling horseshit excuses.

Tell me then, what would Bush have to do to prove that "he cares?"

Pull a Clinton and go on TV with tears in his eyes and claims that "he feels our pain"?
