Funko just admitted it might not survive another year

You have to be a special breed of terrible at business if you fumble selling $0.5 plastic toys for $20+

the margins are insane last I looked at the stock though it's been a while, maybe the tarrifs hurt them I dunno

On one hand, shame about the workers who will get layed out.

On the other hand, they will be free to do more productive work than creating these man-made horrors.

I think it was a matter of time.

Just a whole amount of cheap, ugly plastic.

Most of collecting is wasteful, but this was an ugly use of it.

Labubu are no different. Not sure if I read they were declining already as well.

Nendoroid will remain superior. But even then, they need to avoid rinsing random IP like Funko did. Stay choosey.

I never understand the fascination of this funko toy that looks basically the same.

It just remind me of that stupid monkey NFT.

You could argue it's the same as other mascot cosplay, like Pikachu, Sackboy and Astro Bot.

But there the mascot already has fundamental appeal and presence all if their own, though.

Never liked the design either, and I will agree with the rest they are ugly. Kind of hard to compete with the likes of Popmart and their other ips like Skullpanda, Molly, Twinkle Twinkle which are billion times cuter, not even bringing bubus in this comparison.

Same here, I never understood why someone would want these ugly ass figures. Why not make some high quality ones that actually LOOK like the characters, damn.

What is especially wild is some people have rooms full of the things.
The psychology behind them is that they are all to the same scale or something like that, some people genuinely like them, I don't, but funko made the mistake of trying to hook the speculator market. Speculators leaving is devastating; if they hadn't worked to draw them in to begin with chase bs and limited editions every 5 seconds, they wouldn't have put themselves in this situation
worth mentioning, Funko still did a billion in sales last year, the problem is they have a mountain of debt and basically everything they sell has royalty fees attached,

Funkos are just Beanie Babies for nerds. They're ugly and stupid. I'm happy I've never purchased one before.

That being said, I have a Funko Pop of myself somewhere. They were made to be auctioned off for charity. I was not involved in that decision, nor do I endorse funko pops. But I do support the charity, and they made some good money.

But I'm happy these will eventually go extinct. Always seemed like such a soulless cash grab to me.
So you have a really massive head and plastic for skin (

That whole "fad" made less than zero sense to me. Some people really thought it would amount to something too.

Then again, lots of stupid, stupid things take off. Hawk Tua for example.

How TF ....
