1) Before trade deadline, aquire exceptional goaltender (Brodeur, Nabokov, Luongo*) to secure against 1/3 odds of rubberband BS AI.
2) Start games by scoring 3-4 goals up on opposing team within 1st and 2nd periods. The faster, the better. The more goals, the better!
3) Spend 2nd & 3rd periods taking ridiculous slashing penalties against opposing Hero players. The more you slash them, the more likely they'll hit the injury roster.
4) Kill off a large number of 5 minute major penalties for slashing opponent's best players. This is the most difficult part but can usually be done by taking a fast winger or centre and playing keep away. This forces the opposing team to take a penalty as well so you don't have to worry about the opposing team catching up in goals.
5) Continue slashing opposing players and taking ridiculous penalties until end of game. Before you know it, all your opponent's key players will be out for the entire duration of the season leaving you to dominate.

[*Note: Brodeur, Nabokov, and Luongo are BY FAR the best goalies in the game. On Difficult, these guys are like walls and never fluke out. Expect occasional soft goals here and there.]
