I miss Alaska

The best place I've ever lived in but I had to move , its just so expensive over there. I will definitely go back someday though, truly a peaceful haven, a place you want to live in when you feel like you don't belong anywhere else.

Where in Alaska did you go? It really is expensive but wages are usually a lot more there. I grew up partially in Ketchikan and it was a truly magical place... I'd love to return as well.

I have only seen vids about Alaska but I believe it must be great. The real great outdoors.

I want to go, but I dare not visit the USA tbh :(

Visit when you can, is it truly a great experience, especially if you like to feel some sort of peace and quiet, and the Alaska outdoors is magical , I recommend going in winter though if you want to see the Aurora.

I loved it when I spent a couple weeks there touring around with friends back in, I think, 2005. Beautiful place, but I don't think I could live there as I'm more of a big city person that likes to vacation in nature every once in a while. Even more so now that I'm in my 40s and less into hiking and other outdoorsy stuff than I was back then.

Alaska is not all outdoorsy stuff though , perfect place to just be home all day enjoying silence and a fireplace and just watch tv, videos games or some reading.

Oh I know. I meant I'm more just one that enjoys the hustle and bustle of city life, great restaurants and bars, museums, theaters, pro sports, concerts etc.. Especially now after being mostly shut in home since March!

So living in a city where I can enjoy the at home stuff and the hustle and bustle of city life is more my style, than some where like Alaska (or West Virginia where I grew up) where it's home life and outdoorsy stuff with little else to do. Though I love an occasional vacation to unwind in nature. Doing a cabin in the mountains in North Georgia in a couple of weeks to get away for a bit.

Fair enough , Alaska is definitely not a big city lifestyle place. I hate city life in my case so Alaska was perfect.

Was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage from 2004-2007 as my first base in the Air Force (when I was issued uniforms in basic I got only summer weights because they were out of winter weights then ended up in Alaska...smh).

Anchorage was a neat city, I"ve heard it has grown a lot since then, though. Also skied at Alyeska and did a Denali trip while there where we went hiking, rafting, etc that was fun.
