Hey guys. I'm looking into buying a new PC desktop soon. I checked out the custom build sites from the OP, but none of the boxes are appealing to me. The new HP desktops, on the other hand, look nice esthetically, so I'm kind of leaning towards just going this route to make things easy. That is unless I can learn about better deals/options from this thread.
Here's the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-170t (custom build)
Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-860 processor [2.8GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache]
8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs]
750GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 640GB
1.8GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
Premium Wireless-N LAN card and Bluetooth(R)
15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, 1394, audio, video (for TV Tuner)
TV tuner, ATSC-NTSC with PVR, remote
Integrated 7.1 channel sound with front audio ports
HP stereo speakers with subwoofer and remote 30W
HP multimedia keyboard and HP optical mouse
$1,615
good deal?
I noticed advice to stay away from HP laptops on the previous page. Same for HP desktops? My current PC is an HP, which has been reliable, so I don't have any personal reasons to dislike them. Though maybe I'm just lucky.
I don't game much on PC, but I plan to buy SSFIV in the future and maybe mess around with FPS games (BC2). I also want to start doing video editing work. Other than that, I typically use my PC for music/video streaming/internet.
