I need a surround sound system in my bathroom

You'll never get good audio in a bathroom, too many hard surfaces, you'll have reflections galore. Perhaps hook some headphones up in bathroom if you really need music whilst you have a shit.

Seems to be a bit of love for Polk in here, hear good stuff about them, but they're not massively popular / readily available here in UK.

The Pleasure The Pleasure

Yeah one of my old bosses and i were super tight before he went on one too many n-word filled rants for comfort

Anywho he was fairly wealthy because his mother was a millionaire and babied him, and he was also a sound guy/audio engineer as a side gig. He had the craziest gear dude. Very elitist brands

Dude straight up had a living room theater set up that looked like something you'd see in a VFW hall or a bar where bands would play 😅 guy was nuts.

However, pretty much everything he showed me was either not as enjoyable as what I already owned, or to the point where there wasnt enough discernable difference for whatever extra $1,000 he dropped on it.

Audio gear is absolutely a thing where theres diminishing returns and people pretending they can hear a difference. That or I'm deaf.

But yeah, Sont headphones are dope, and always super comfy.

I hear their speakers arent as good? Idk why that would be
Audio equipment is in the headphones is like this.

stuff given with the item is garbage. Stuff around even 10-25 bucks is a decent step up from that. the 50-150 range is a huge improvement. Then the 300-400 range is another huge improvement. But the improvements from that price aren't as pronounced or as huge so there is a cost limiting there once you get to the 300-400 range the jumps aren't as drastic or as good.

My friend has two tower McIntosh speakers. He wired his house and spent about 40k for his sound setup. Mounted into the ceiling, behind him, subwoofer, power amplifier, receiver and all that other nice stuff. Does his sound setup outperform mine? Oh hell yes. Does it outperform it to the point where I can buy a new car? OH FUCK NO. Most people would be happy with my sound setup in the living room as they say it produces a loud enough sound and at a good clarity.

But you're right. There is limits on how much money can take you. And it's not just the quality of the equipment but the quality of the source. People using 128kbps MP3s and using this expensive equipment? You're gonna hear all the cracking and compression artifacts. But those that use FLAC and it? They're gonna have a good time. But it's not going to be that jump from 480kbps mp3s to FLAC format audio. There is a limit on everything. But sound is a harder thing to pinpoint than video since eyes don't lie while audio can play tricks on you.

I remember one time this chick I knew wouldnt shut up about how good her records sounded and when I finally went over there to check it out she had a crosley briefcase player with like those paper thin speakers built in. Sounded atrocious with no depth

People do all sorts of stuff to justify their purchase etc and as long as they're enjoying it and it sounds good to them... I let them be. Both sides of the spectrum

I constantly put people on blast when they show me their 4k samsung tv. Inferior picture motion, blacks, colors, 24 frames and judder. Don't invite me to watch movies at your house with such pathetic tv gamers and vizio soundbar. Or at least don't hype it up when you use composite cables.
