I need to convert some AVIs to MPEG so a friend can edit the files on his Mac. A free program would be great, as everything else I've tried have been lame trial versions which only convert 50% of the file :/

Tmpgenc Plus... you may or may not find this in abundance on bit torrents or Direct Connect.. things like that. You're supposed to donate or something if you like it. I think. I can't remember.
