I need help with my JP Saturn.

Ok, I bought a JP Saturn on eBay acouple of days ago and I got it and everything is working fine, except I can't keep it to save anything. I know you use the same battery that is used for the VMU, the CR0-32 battery (or whatever it is called) in the back which I have done, however despite putting another one in there, it7 never seems to want to save. Every time I turn it on it goes to the date/tiime screen. So, unless it is supposed to use some other type of battery I am at a loss.

The Saturn won't save?

Simple fix!

Head on over to K-Mart and buy a new battery for that bad boy.

It'll cost you 4 dollars. Just open up the compartment in the back, and remove the old one.

BTW its a CR2032 lithium battery.

I'm pretty sure the Saturn is in good condition, it came from a guy IN Japan who had all positive feedback, and the system itself looks really good and doesn't have any obvious signs of damage. As far as the CR batterys are concerned, I bought 2 whole tray fulls of them on another Ebay auction awhile back, I have enough CR batterys to last a VERY long time.

On a side note, I recently got Street Fighter Zero 3 and for some reason it won't work with my 4-1 cartridge like Xmen Vs Street Fighter will. It does, however, work when I use the 4-meg cart that came with Xmen Vs Street Fighter though:P

There are two versions of the 4-in-1 converter that were made. Earlier versions will not work with Capcom's Saturn releases after X-Men Vs. Street Fighter IIRC.

If adding a fresh battery isn't doing the trick, try cleaning the connectors in the battery slot... (use isopropyl alcohol)

I had this problem on my US Sat...

Why are you using a 4-in-1 with an import Saturn? Use the 4meg cart. :D For playing US games, get a Saturn Key.

The 4Meg cart (the official one) is a piece of crap...With things like it, it's not very difficult to understand why SEGA ended where it ended...

An official product from SEGA that wasn't 100% compatible with all games !!! I still remember the stupid face I made when I put KOF 96 on the SS and the sprites appeared bad...
It works fine with Capcom's stuff but forget about SNK games...A pity since the best port of SS4/Kof96 is on SS.

I've had to 'fix' many older 4-in-1's for lots of people and it's by far the easiest mod to do.

Peter at NCS put up the pics and instructions for modding an old one here. It works. All you need to do is open up the cart and grab a short length of wire to solder the two points. Just be careful with the amount of solder you use.
