I'll be 40 in May (born in 1986), which means I've lived through all the eras of video games... from the glorious, true Master Race era to every console released.

People are complaining that the PlayStation 5 doesn't have any games. Excuse me?

I get the feeling that some people spend 12 hours a day playing and devouring video games, so I can understand why it's impossible for such an insatiable gamer to ever be satisfied, even if they release 10 exclusives a year...

I don't have a family or a wife, but I do have a job and other hobbies besides the video games I love, and sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the number of games I still haven't played on the PlayStation 5.

My backlog is piling up, and I have to give absolute priority to the ones I know I love... and then work my way down the rest.

When the PlayStation 5 generation ends (which is going to be a long one), I'll probably need a PlayStation 6 to play the PlayStation 5 games I didn't have time for.

Then, of course, I'll hear the "I won't buy a PlayStation 6" meme, which I've been hearing since the PlayStation 3...

When the PlayStation 6 launches, this thread will be utterly shameful, always highlighted by those same people who have been predicting the death of PlayStation since the PlayStation 3, and yet here we are... even though the PC purists are on the forums 24/7 telling us how stupid we are for playing on consoles.

If you exclusively want AAA games from Sony or Microsoft I can see why you would be disappointed. But overall I thought this gen had a lot of great games to play, with several really pushing the bar in terms of visual fidelity as well. Although that visual fidelity push has mostly been on the PC side of things thanks to PT.

Sounds maybe stupid but I really hope that we get next gen as late as possible.
Most of the devs just started to leave behind last gen...
I mean even games like Forza Horizon 5, Motorsport 8 and GT7 are still cross gen!
This was probably the slowest move to the current gen ever...


I really think we still have not seen what these consoles could do, if they optimize it like in the past.

Additionally I do not know, what benefits newer console would give us expect a bit higher fps and resolution.
PS5 Pro is already at a performance/price level, which is for a console pretty high..

Somehow we are missing the console magic here...

Wow. Not only did you not get the point, I think the original complaint totally eluded you. He was talking about not enough games released to upgrade. His same complaint would apply to PC.

Why would he upgrade for minimal improvements each year when very few games released taking full advantage of the previous card? But good job on exposing yourself.

Doesn't even feel like the current gen got started. Not a single decent console exclusive or system seller so far. I've enjoyed my Series X for back compat and playing older games, but as far as first party goes it's been an absolute letdown in every regard.

Next gaming system I buy will be a Steam Machine, I'm actually excited about the prospect of owning one over a corpo console.

You were too young to really know the nes or even16 bit era if you are only 40.

Gaming was much better in the 80s and 90s. It's not even close.

Feels like yesterday when I got my PS5 Pro.
Perfectly happy with it and my XSX and in zero hurry to jump on the next gen train.

Me personally there is nothing more stupid than paying $70 for digital copies of singleplayer games. I feel like a fucking genius for playing on consoles lol

I've had plenty of stuff to play this gen. I always have like 15+ games on my PSN wishlist.

I see PS6 basically as a hardware upgrade since I assume 98% of games for it will come to PS5 (at least for the first 4-5 years). It's less about gaining access to new games and more about getting good IQ at 60fps, better ray tracing, not having to play every other UE5 game at 720p 45fps, etc.

You could say "just get a pro", but I'd rather skip the half step and wait for something (presumably PS6) that offers a more significant upgrade.

No matter how it ends this will be a mediocre gen as far as first party games from Sony is concerned , cant speak for MS games since I dont care for them and dont own the console.

Its the worst playstation gen by far, they could prolong to 2030 and try to gain momentum but I doubt it .

If they remove the ones released on Steam you would suddenly see they have released mostly the same games as in PS4 gen.

GT7, Ragnarok, Halo Infinite, Spider-Man 2 I'm sure I'm missing more proper AAA games (ghost of tshuma) are we okay with moving onto a new generation? Yes I'm getting this thread out of here before the weekend GAF crew arrives

It has been a major disappointment. If I didn't have a lot of PS4 games I missed then my PS5 would have been the worst purchase of my life. The woke Spider-Man 2 really put salt in my wounds.

The point being it's still the same. You're paying a shit ton for an upgrade when nothing except a handful of games took advantage of your previous card.
