wasn't released in 97. That was one of the dates they wanted it out by, but it didn't actually come out until March or April of 98.

by development kit, it probably means, maybe, a game engine or open GL or something like Renderware, but for back-in-the-day.

march 98 is the date on starcraft. team size was probably 30? for kit i'd just say they created their own engine, but it did use directx.
