RE4 is so great, it's such a waste that its being released at the end of this gen.

If GC gets massive sales im sure Capcom will consider releasing another or re-use the engine (obviously updated) for the next gen RE5.

Expansion Pack? Yes Please.

Ugh. I'm starting to get curious now.

All right, I hated Resident Evil in 1996 when it first came to the Playstation. Detested it. Bad graphics, bad controls. Anyway, I skipped Resident Evil 2, 3, Veronica X, 0 and the rest.

Now...would you recommend this game to me? The graphics look sweet, there's no arguing that. But is this game that much drastically superior to its predecessors like everybody's been saying?

YES! Good lord, yes. I also hated many disliked many aspects of the RE series, yet I'd say that RE4 has a shot at my GOTY of 2005. It's THAT good. You must play it!

I hated RE titles and I love 4.
My friends all hated RE and they love 4.

I hope the engine is optimized a bit more before any more titles use it. The jaggies in the castle are some of the worst I've seen and the textures are as bad as the rocks in Wind Waker.

what's up with the RE outbreak file 2 due out in spring?

what's the concept on that one?

i thought ALL RE was to be on one system, which is why they ported instead of redid all the others. so will cube be getting outbreak 1 & 2 to complete the collection?

sorta a pain they announce all for one system so you go get that system and then they screw ya in the back side and release it on something else. i do not care about it being on something else but unless it is released on the cube also how would i ever get ALL on one system?

I've only played REmake (nice graphics; wacky controls; scary as hell up until the moment when I figured out all the narrative tricks, at which point it suddenly became boring). I couldn't be bothered to play 2, 3, or Zero.

So is the plot of 4 self-contained? It's okay if there are scattered references to earlier games that I don't get, but is playing RE 2 and 3 a pre-requisite to understanding the basic plot of 4?

Ive hardly scratched the game (apparently im on chapter 2) and theres only a few references to Resi 2 in which Leon was one of the main characters.

I think Capcom made this game so you can play through without having to play the previous titles (as they could be a turn off), because this game is so different (and better) than the rest of the series.

Isn't Resident Evil: Code Veronica uses a gameplay simlar (the camera that follows your avatar)? I haven't played the game yet, but intend to grab it for GCN if it's price ever drop...

No, RECV was the first RE to have 3D backgrounds (the camera could pan around a room). Otherwise it played the same.

I pray that Xbox gets the next RE game, just to ignite fanboys (even the subconcious ones like the OP).

Outbreak 1/2 are the online RE games, so they won't be ported to GC. They're also regarded as not being very good.

MGS3 a couple months ago was pretty much being heralded in the exact same way. Maybe not quite this much but it was close.

I can understand not liking the original RE controls, but the first RE looked fantastic back in 1996. How were the graphics bad?
