I think Keanu Reeves is going to give a mediocre performance in Cyberpunk 2077 and possibly ruin the game for me....(Agent Smith, GET ITT!!!™)

Best Youtube Comment Ever: I, for one, think it's amazing that a young British actor such as Mr. Reeves was capable of doing such a convincing California accent in Bill & Ted.

CDPR's mediocre game play mechanics will ruin the game, not Sir Keanu

I like him in other stuff, but he really ruined that movie for me.

Coppola said he wanted to cast a young heartthrob in the role. I'll never understand. Could've literally been anyone else.

I don't think his performance has much to do with the game, it's more about how CDPR designed his character and used it in the entire story.

I'm totally serious when I say this, but Keanu is my favorite shitty actor. He's been in some amazing action movies and now possibly an amazing game. Plus he's still better than the majority of acting in The Witcher 3.

Is that slow-mo from Matrix 4?

It's the writing. cdpr have bad writers too. If I'm keanu reading my script, I will feel embarrassed too.

But I'm surprised keanu has such a big part in the game, was expecting him to play a guest celebrity role

i like him and watch all his movies but i really don't get the obsession the internet has with him. honestly the whole cyberpunk thing has made me not want to watch anything with him again. you have cyberpunk fanboys creaming at anything he does. he's a good actor but come on.

also i don't like celebrities in games. especially big hollywood ones like Keanu. not hating against him but it just ruins the experience. i'm not gonna see Johnny Silverhand i'm gonna see Keanu Reeves. at first i thought it might be cool cause Keanu has been in so many classic Cyberpunk movies so it kinda made sense. but it has gone too far. he should've been a cameo or at best an NPC for a side quest.

there's no doubt he has helped market the game and he'll help sell way more copies but imo CDPR really goofed it up in terms of telling a story and creating a believable world but who cares right? as long as they get money i doubt they care.

Well he sounded like Keanu Reeves for sure. Need to play the game to see if his VA is matching the character.

But we're far from Dinklages' bored Ghost delivery. That guy didn't give a fuck, which is sad.

Does OP really think Keanu is going to mess up for a game with a marketing budget rivaling a Block Buster Hollywood movie? :D

Everyone involved in this game 100% understands the significance it will create within the coming months and years. This will be a landmark title that people will think back of as a new gold standard for video game production.

Nobody will mess up and especially not a guy like Keanu. Just my two cents

Well he seemed pretty bored in B&T 3 as well which was unfortunate.

Keanu Reeves isn't exactly known for the most captivating performances.

I've always liked this scene, this is Keanu peaking.

Also, we should hijack this thread and turn it into a Keanu .gif thread.

People get Keanu has ever been a decent actor right?

Seems like a weird choice to me. And theyve used his name to steal work off decent voice actors

Still like keanu tho, seems like a decent dude

I cannot fight the feeling he's just playing John Wick again but forgot it's not what he's currently working on... Still should be decent enough for that game tho.

Keanu may be limited as an actor but action and sci-fi are right up his alley. I'm pretty sure he'll do a good job. The game's marketing and advertising aren't helping, because they're trying to sell the game as future GTA, so a lot of trailers have Keanu swearing and sounding angry and not doing much else. Judging from last week's impressions, the story and characters have a lot more depth to them than that.

I have been saying this from the beginning.

If they made Keaunu as a buddy cop stature the novelty of its character goes down everytime he says something Gamey.

I am preparing myself for a lot of cringe. Because it would be worth it to get to the good gameplay moments. My expectations are in check.

I just saw the latest behind-the-scenes video of Keanu Reeves talking about the making of the game, etc.

I realized how bad some of the voice acting is from his end. Is it just me or does only Rockstar Games bring out the best of Hollywood Actors when it comes to voice acting? (e.g. GTA Vice City & San Andreas)

The E3 moment was nice, but I think he was a terrible choice from a hardcore gamer's perspective.

Marketing wise, he's an ace in the hole for Cyberpunk 2077 as you can already see fanboys using his character as their avatars.

Overall, I predict that reviewers and hardcore gaming enthusiasts will criticize Keanu Reeves' performance as subpar and adding nothing to the overall quality of the game.

What do ya'll think, GAF?

Who cares what the hardcore and reviewers think? The majority of the game copies won't be bought by reviewers or Hardcore. Keanu is a cool guy and Cyberpunk will benefit from the exposure he will bring. Fanboys using his avatar? Who are you? A nobody!

He's terrible. He's always been terrible. Outside of Bill & Ted, it's cringeworthy anytime the guy opens his mouth.

I still have no idea why he increased the speed of the train at the end of Speed in order to jump the rails after the dashboard was shot-up.

It always bugged me & I feel like there was never a proper debate on the logic behind "go faster, cause even bigger train-wreck = survive".

Yeah. A very probably good game play, good story, good world build will be ruined by a possibly bad voice acting of ONE character in the entire game. /s

I never understood the hype for Keanu, especially with the John Wick movies. Its just a weekend action flick you forget the next day. He is a great human being bit his acting is the same in EVERY. SINGLE. MOVIE.

So when they added him i was like why?

I think this will create confirmation bias for you. Because you expect something mediocre, you will hear something mediocre. I hope that you can enjoy the game despite your expectations.

He'll fit right in, given how poor the rest of the dialogue and voice-acting has been in literally every single piece of footage I've seen thus far.

The guy gets a bad wrap at least he has been in some pretty successful roles and movies. Hes never top tier actor but his stinkers were at least considerable time ago towards the start of his career

I thought he was just going to be a character in the game you run into from time to time. Like an arms dealer or something. Not the absolute central focus of the entire main narrative. But I guess if you're paying him whatever you are paying him you gotta get your money's worth.

Admittedly I have not really followed this game too closely other than watching some trailers and thinking "this looks pretty cool".

Internet has ruined this guy since the way overrated John Wick series became super popular with people who don't know when a movie really deserves accolades.
