I think my step dad might be cheating on my mom

Sounds like conclusive evidence to me. Tell your mom about it. And since she might not be convinced, just tell her that you actually caught him in a threesome, preferably with one of her friends. If you're going to leap to conclusions, why not go all the way?

Good idea. Might switch "threesome" for "his 15-year-old niece" though.

Your stepdad was probably just using the personal ads to wank to; nothing wrong with a little fantasy.

I don't think it's any of your business what he's doing anyways. I'm sure you've got a lot of stuff in your browser history that you wouldn't want others seeing.

Probably looking for another man to join him and your mom, she's into DP and other kinky shit
:lol

....seriously though. Some old women are pretty skanky. Always a possibility.

You actually are the one who looked up for meat on craiglist and hooked up with a german trucker who happened to be in town for the weekend You were drugged by him, and he dropped you back home, which explains the lack of memories of it ever happening

If he's cheating on my mom? If that ends up being the case, then sorry, completely my business.
What? No, it isn't.

She's a big girl, she can take care of her own business.

She doesn't need you playing detective and making up shit out of nothing.

The MOST you should do is tell your mom about the history on the PC. That's the absolute max, and even that is a dick move.

It's his family.

That sounds like the opposite of detective to me. Before planting seeds of mistrust based off something that he might be completely innocent of (joke, email link, maybe he just masturbates to the pics, who knows?) i would like to get as much info as possible so as to be certain of any cheating.

And i think something like this is a sons/daughters business. Especially with stepparents. Tread lightly Lost Fragment.. it could be a misunderstanding.

That advice would be the same no matter who it is.

heaven help us if we were all judged by our internet history and it was taken seriously.

Good lord, that Miley little sister thread would pretty much see us all in jail for a very long time.

That's ridiculous. It's his fucking step-dad. A potential affair clearly has a direct affect on his life and well being. If his step-father cheats on his mom, he's being a prick to everyone in the family. Is it worth intervening with this amount of evidence? Is it worth it even if he does know? Those are more difficult questions. (I vote yes, I like confrontation. But I suppose it's a bit more complicated than that, and his family situation might affect what he's comfortable with or should do. As a child-type person, it's certainly not the op's responsibility to confront his step-dad, and it's really fucked up that he even has to consider it.)

Local craigslist ads are a bit different. It's not like that's something he'd click to from some other website.

lol, I'm not gonna tell my mom about the internet history unless I know for sure my step dad is cheating or is trying to cheat. And even then I'm not sure if I would or not. If I do end up in that position, I'd just want to do what's best for all involved parties. Figuring out what that is is the hard part, 'cause it's sort of a rock-and-a-hard-place situation.

Jesus christ, it doesn't matter who it is we're talking about. Jumping to ridiculous conclusions based on the fact the dude looked at some personal ads is a fucking joke.

Get a grip people.

Edit: I came into this thread thinking maybe the OP had found some sketchy emails or texts, but instead its just some dude looking at personal ads.

OK. What does that have to do with me?

I was using internet sarcasm to have a dig at KHarvey. I'm on your team.

If he is cheating, your mother should know, your mother should know, your mother should know.

Make an account, get a date with him to a restaurant, then tell your mom your step dad has booked at a restaurant for her. So they will actually be having a date with eachother. Your mom will be happy while he will feel extremely awkward.

I can empathize. I just recently [in the last year or so] found out my Mom has been cheating on my Dad for like 15 years! I'm 22 and my parents have always had problems, and seperated when I was like 18 but I just figured it was because their lives just took different paths.

It was kinda mind blowing at first, and made me really "see" my parents as actual people, and not just as "Mom and Dad." I've kinda gotten used to it now though, and am not pissed off anymore.

I don't know how it is with "Step" parents, because I've never had one.. but I imagine it's got to be more painful. Really sorry to hear it, man.

There is no way that I would sit back and let another man, who is not even my real father, cheat on my mother and then not tell her. He would be lucky if all I did was tell her and not crack his skull. I agree he needs more evidence before alarming her, but if that evidence appears, he has every right to tell her what the hell is going on.

Probably you should just find out for certain. Pretend you're in a mystery novel and start tailing him and shit. Either he's very boring or he's up to no good. Don't bother going to your mother with very little proof. He can just explain it away as a joke or someone forwarding it to him or something.

Edit:

Also, wear a suit, only go out at night or when it's raining, and make sure there's some sort femme fatale or underworld angle here. But those are optional.

Well how is your relationship w/your stepdad and how is his relationship w/your mom? If he's a dick b4 this then he could be planning, but what you found isn't conclusive. Does your mom treat him well, has she cheated on him in the past?

I never said otherwise, if he is indeed cheating then the mother should know about it.

There's been no evidence to suggest his step dad has been cheating, so I fail to see why the OP even made this thread.

You just said it was none of his business anyway. It's like you're saying even if his stepfather is cheating he should stay out of it and let her take care of her own affairs, no pun intended. I'm just saying if he finds proof of an affair he has an obligation to tell his mother.

What his dad wanks to ISNT any of his business. I thought it was clear that the sentence after was refering to his internet browsing, but apparently not. My bad.

What I'm saying though is that he shouldnt just start snooping around and jumping to conclusions because his dad has looked at personal ads. He's only stirring up trouble over nothing.

And oh, what an awkward situation to find yourself in. It depends I guess on how you feel about your stepfather. I assume your feeling in this is neutral so just do more investigation before you come barging with accusations.

Well like I said I agree that as of right now there is nothing to tell. Although I was thinking that the personal ad must of been specific as to what the person making the ad was looking for, otherwise why would the OP be so worried.

You need to make sure that your mom is able to accept the reality of the situation if that's the case. If she isn't ready to leave him, you'll resent him for cheating and her for staying, and it will make your life a living hell. I'd say even if it's true, internalize it, cause if not, a lot of things could change.

I don't have first-hand experience in this, but I do know that I hold a lot of terrible secrets for a bunch of people and I know if I revealed it, the truth would straight up kill people.
