I wake up and suddenly my neck is paralyzed af

I hate when this happens. I woke up a few days ago and then BAM, suddenly I unable to move my neck to the right. It's painful as shit. It's a little better now but does this happen to anyone else? And, if so, has anyone found a quick remedy?

It's been three days and it's still quite painful...although slowly improving. Shit sucks. I guess i'm old now.

Go to a physiotherapist, heat/cold packs on neck and look at a new pillow and sleeping position. Stretches for your neck daily can also help. My wife has this on and off.

How is the physiotherapist stretching out your wife’s neck?

dunno anything about your lifestyle, cannot provide adequate thoughts

cursory opinion is you got a crick in the neck

alternate heat and ice, sleep on your back, don't force your neck into uncomfortable positions and pray you didn't slip a disc

It's infrequently happened to me since I was little. You probably just pulled a muscle, slept awkwardly, or something weird.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix it, other than just being able to turn your head to one side for a while and putting up with it, lol

Are you in a bad relationship? Sounds to me like someone is trying to strangle you in your sleep.
Reminds me of a story where a lady said she couldn't sleep at night and felt like she was being smothered in her sleep. So she set up a nanny cam, and found her fat ass cat had been plopping down over her face as she slept! ;)

Can't move my neck, what do i do:

1. Go to doctor
2. Ask mom
3. Post on forum

3 seems to be most logical thing to do. Off we go.

No, waking up and having no way of moving your neck and when you do it you get severe pain only means there is something wrong with your neck.

one time i went to get out of bed and it felt like my head lifted but the rest of my body didnt. so, it felt like the vertebrate in my neck basically slipped out of place and it was super fucking painful

I had this happen to me last year. It was one of the worst feelings ever.

To recover, I took a very hot wet towel and wrapped it around my neck. Each day, I would slowly move my head from side to side (albeit very painful), but it was the only way to train my muscles to return back to normal.

Just an update.. It's pretty much back to normal today. Damn though, seriously, the first couple of days was awful. I pretty much did what JordanN mentioned, slowly move my head from side to side. It still sorta hurts, but it's just about back to normal.

Woke up with something similar before. It went on for more than a week and I was worried about having torticollis. It resolved on its own pretty much.

sounds like a crick, glad you bounced back

don't worry tho, one day the decays of nature will destroy your information forever

When I was 11 I somehow slept so fucked up one night that I needed a neck brace for 2 months. I literally could not get out of bed. My mom thought I was trying to get out of school and tried to force me out of bed. After screaming in agony, she called an ambulance, went to ER, they did xrays, etc. Doc was like "yup, your kid just slept on his neck wrong. GIT GUD."

A long time ago I noticed how in all my photos I had a slanted neck. Well, I figured it was mostly likely because I always sleep on my right side, so I started sleeping on the left. The first day I woke up and my neck was completely shot. I couldn't bend it back for 4 days and looked like an idiot. However, now my neck is much straighter :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Last year, one day I woke up and it was like someone beat the shit out of me. I opened my eyes and just went "........aaaaaAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"
It took me a month to fully recover

Welcome to getting old where getting the correct pillow to support your neck and head is far, far more important than getting laid.
