I remember the Arcade release got a bit of a meh response, but apparently the PS2 version's arrange mode was good enough to warrant an Arcade release as Ibara Black Label.

So, Disregarding the fact that I'm a huge Cave (as well as Eighting/Razing) fan, should I drop 60 bones on it?

yea, if you like garegga. if you haven't played garegga, read up on it and give it a spin in an emulator -- it's an amazing game, but rank management isn't for everyone.

well you should get it because you are a raizing fan, at least for the original/arcade version. black labels biggest change seems to be the addition of a new (more cave like?) scoring mechanic/system, along with some other smaller changes. or something. just read this i guess: http://www.insomnia.ac/japan/ibara_black_label.php

and you couldnt just bump the ibara for ps2 thread?

I only played it briefly so I can't comment on the deep scoring systems...but it was damn nice from what I played. Lovely visuals, great bullet patterns, lots of explosions, hot 2d art, seemed like another Cave winner to me. It's the game I'm most looking forward to next week

There's already another Ibara thread that drohne started, but that one sort of derailed, I guess. Anyway, just saw the first set of scores on MB:

Ibara (Cave) - 7, 7, 6, 6 - (26/40)

Not sure how that compares to past PS2 Cave ports. I remember Mushihimesama's scores being lower than Espgaluda and DDPDOJ, but I can't remember by *how* much.

Is Arika responsible for the conversion on this one? I'm guessing the answer is no.

That's right around what Mushi got, and it's one of my favorite shmups ever. Taito just doesn't pay Famitsu enough.

no clue who did this one, but taito did mushi at least, and ibara is on the same hardware (which may or may not have any relevance at all for porting).

just dont expect a cave game, its pretty much a raizing game, which probably also factored into the review scores (the whole bitch ass rank system and all).
