Ideas for breakfast?

I wanna start eating breakfast, and I'd like to keep it very light and super quick to prepare. Any ideas? Good cereals out there? Favorite fruits?

fuck light breakfasts

scrambled eggs, a couple strips of bacon, some whole wheat toast with butter (not margarine), and some country style hashbrowns with cheddar cheese melted over the top...

damn am I hungry now.. :(

But what I do, If I am in a hurry, is I pop a bagel in the toaster, turn on the frying pan, scramble some eggs, fry some bacon, make some hash, butter the bagel, and put all of the aforementioned ingredients in the bagel, put together, enjoy.

Despite my HUGE DICK, I'd like to go for something with less fat. Unless that's a bad idea for breakfasts? I'm trying to be more healthy and breakfast is very important for kickstarting your metabolism.

Plus, when I eat things like bacon and eggs for breakfast (well anything, but more the fatty stuff) I have to take HUGE SHITS ASAP.

EDIT: Previously this summer, the only times I've had breakfast were with a pint of Ben & Jerry's :lol

Actually I'm not that big. I'm just a little overweight in some areas, but I'm at 180 right now so it's not that bad.

I keep telling myself I need to go back to the gym and get back in shape...and I will....eventually. >:)
 
That maple & brown sugar oatmeal rocks.

If I don't skip breakfast, I'll usually have some Muesli and a yogurt for something healthy. If you don't know, Muesli is kind like a mixture of granola and dried fruits and oats. I prefer Familia brand, although there's lots of different kinds that are also good.

you can actually get away with murder for breakfast (*NOTE* NOT LITERALLY MURDER). As you said, you are kickstarting your body's metabolism. as long as you aren't piling sugar into your system for breakfast, you can provide that kickstart through really most means. even if you are taking a larger amount of fat in, by curbing your meals through the rest of the day it can end up being a non-factor.

for me, breakfast is BY FAR my favorite meal. I am pretty much a lover of all things in your typical american breakfasts. so I tend to be a fucking pig at breakfast, and then try to chill out through the rest of the day. I might just have a sandwich and a handful of chips or vegetables for lunch, and then a modest amount of meat, vegetables, and a starch for supper (modest being less than say a typical TV dinner). I am not in perfect shape, but I have only added 15-20ish pounds over the last 7 years, though it should be noted that those 7 years were also my desk years at work. previous to that I was a machinist and had a much higher activity rate during work (re I have no activity rate during work now).

I'm in the same boat, but replace 180 with 190 :(

I had this for breakfast on my last day in LA. These things are so filling and good. I'll probably do it again in a year's time. Too much food.

Plus, when I eat things like bacon and eggs for breakfast (well anything, but more the fatty stuff) I have to take HUGE SHITS ASAP.

Fats themselves are not bad. But the fats from eggs and especially bacon are not good for you because they are saturated. They clog your arteries and take longer to process. The result is less energy.

Get fats from nuts, and wild fish.

I dunno about the huge shits tho lol.

I like a nice creamy Greek yoghurt with honey and some kind of museli on top, with an apple or banana.
If I want something hot, I make a smoked cheese and ham toasted sandwich. Weekends are for fry ups!

It's not everyone. It's just certain posters, who unfortunately probably make up the majority of the forum.

EDIT: Nice, I'm gonna scope up some cereals today. I just got back from 50 minutes on the bike. I thought the RPM was my HR, so I was wondering why it wouldn't go higher than 130. Then I realised it wasn't my HR, and really my HR was about 190 for 20 minutes :lol I got down to 150 for the remaining 30 min.

Careful there. Large amounts of Vitamin C acts as an oxidant and too much iron is toxic to the point of...um...death.
 
eating too much for breakfast gives me an upset stomach. I usually will just drink some OJ or a homemade smoothie or something, and occasionally have a small bowl of cereal.

Haha it was pretty bad on the bike today actually, cuz my shorts were sorta well, let's just say I wish they were longer. I'd have to pull them down every 5 minutes because I realised my snake was almost peaking out :lol

Back on topic, I bought some flax/soy/blueberry cereal. It said POWER on the front in really big letters. It must be good for me right? ^_^

Those cereals with added fruit are usually good, but do yourself a favour and don't get the ones with all the added sugar. If you have an organic/health food section at your supermarket, they usually have a few good ones. They cost a bit more, but since you said you'd be eating light, it'd probably last you a good while.

Fruit on its own is great too. I like bananas because they're fast to eat and not messy. A handful of berries works great too, you can even put them in a container and eat it like popcorn whil you're driving to school/work. :)

Usually, whatever I have for breakfast, I have a piece of toast with it with some sugarfree jam. Toast gives you a nice energy boost. Oh, and skip the coffee if you can and go with water. It'll rehydrate you after you've slept all night and had a pee when you woke up, and it makes you feel better. If you can bring a large water bottle with you to school/work, that's great! I always have my 1L water bottle with me wherever I go.

Yeah I remember one night while studying a friend recommended trying water instead of caffeinated beverages, and what do you know, it worked! Kept me up amazingly well. Well I wasn't wired, but I was still up somehow after all that studying. Water's pretty amazing.

I don't want to turn into one of those water bottle people though :lol There's just something about them..... :p

Then again, I drink a LOT of liquids once I come home. I go through like 4-5 juice boxes easily, though they're those pussy 200mL ones. I miss the days when everything was 250mL.

Anyway the cereal I got is certified organic too. Honestly I think 'organic' foods are just a total mindfuck like bottled water is. Are they really that great? Let's hear both sides of the argument.

Manics: I wish there was more of a story to tell, but unfortunately there isn't :p

What exactly is flax anyway? The only time I've heard of it was when I played that Pharaoh game (which was, pretty awesome). I also learned what an apothecary was at the time! :p

I generally save the huge breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and/or pancakes for special occasions, or for when I'm drunk and near a diner. Otherwise, an egg with some turkey bacon isn't too bad, and it won't knock you off the Healthy Train.

If you're into quick meals with little to no clean up (which is by no means a bad thing), a granola bar or one of those fruit/cereal bars isn't a bad choice.

I always have oatmeal or malt-o-meal for breakfast when I'm in a rush/on the go. Yogurt also works if I'm in a big rush (I'm a big calcium fiend lol). If I have the time to make something though, I usually go with scrambled eggs and a bagel with cream cheese.

Whatever you do, avoid stuff with lots of sugar (kid cereals, pop-tart snacks) and startch (instant eggo waffles and similar junk).
