If the entire world & technology disappeared except for registered Gaf members, how long would it take for society to get back to normal?

It might take a thousand years just to get a dial up internet connection up and running

Shit we would have a working network up and running within a week. There are some smart fuckers on gaf who work in IT. Some doctors and passionate economist as well. We also have plenty of the village idiots around as well that will consume all the products that the adults create.

We back to normal in 3 months tops.

You can't die before your death
The problem is that it is impossible for all to agree on something so it might take a very long time.

I don't think there is enough people to guarantee survival of the species.

If we were all transported to one place and all infrastructure is intact, we might be able to survive a couple of generations. Otherwise humanity ends with us.

Ohhh I love weirdo hypotheticals like this. Ok so we have like 150k registered members right? Man, that is nothing. And what percentage of them actually have any idea about how true infrastructure works? I mean, for the most part, we'd all be inheriting a world that would rapidly deteriorate around us as things fell into disrepair/out of maintenance. A giant percentage of people would likely starve and die pretty quickly.. turn feral, etc. There'd no doubt be a lot of hostility, I expect there'd be territorial spats/hoarding of resources and a giant amount of the people who are left would die in months, if not weeks. I don't think people would go completely extinct, but basically those who would survive would probably be the strongest/bravest/those who could do well in the wild. Probably farmers and such, people who are used to living kind of out in the sticks already. Would love to see a movie about something like this, although it would certainly be depressing (yes, I know about The Stand, which I enjoyed, but that is still too supernatural).

Wait, would this mean that any Tik Tok users here that wouldnt be getting their fix be acting out weird dance routines in real life, in front of us?

..Could we allow that? I dont think we could, no.

Social credit should be based on reaction scores :messenger_sunglasses:

Everyone in the top 20 gets to live like kings.

The butt thread folk would gather on a remote island and turn it into a high-tech utopia, within the decade we would have a space elevator and be expanding beyond the stars. Tits thread folk would still be living in ruins eating rat soup.

Nobody knows what happened to the tights thread folk, and to be honest, no-one cares.

Books are technology and so is writing.
If we only have our memories, I guess 1000 years.

Maybe more if our descendants are really dumb.

I don't think there a lot of farmers and hunters around here so we'll probably all starve to death before then.
So maybe, no civilisation at all.

If we have books, then it's a different ballgame.
I think 150-200 years to get it all back.
