If you could give a single MS studio a golden-bullet game, what studio and what game/IP would you pick?

What I said was in no way a defence of the original comment, and ironically as I have little to know knowledge of the original posters history but have seen plenty of war BS from Max_Po, that’s why he copped the response. Just cause I tell one person not to war doesn’t mean I advocate for the other.
Something went wrong during the edit when i added your quote, there was a Thicc quote as well in my post and was mainly directed at him. Apologize.

Pry the fallout IP from Electronic Asshats Bethesda, give it back to Obsidian, and l t the good times roll.

Buy bungie and cliff bliezinsky studios to make actually good halo and gears games again.

343 and coalition can do showelware for gamepass if you really had to keep them.

Also give me a good fable game.

Realistically I don't think that I'd either trust any of their studios to be able to pull something like that off or that there's an IP that would a guaranteed hit even if they could.

I mean I'd like to see a new Fallout from Obsidian, but it's not like New Vegas was flawless or set the charts on fire.

I think this will have a decent amount of nostalgia for early Xbox fans, plus I think the setting (WW2 era alt-universe where the US has broken up into separate nations and people travel between them via planes) would make for a good open world. As well as the fighter game gameplay, maybe include some third person walking gameplay (you can leave your plane and walk around).

Get Bioware (EA now?) to do this as a Xbox exclusive. I think the original concept is fine as it is, just give it a next gen sequel. Could help sales in China too.

Why just one?

Ninja Gaiden by Team Ninja

Dead Space reboot/sequel by any studio as long as they have as many original devs as possible

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 Remakes by Capcom

Project Gotham Racing by ex EVO devs

Alan Wake reboot made from the original concept by Remedy

Witcher 1/2 Remakes by CD Project

Dead Rising 5 by Capcom

A proper exclusive from Crytek

You don’t want Console War, yet defend one of the most feral console warriors on this forum who just defined this game:

sit in a bush and shoot arrows or throw bottles followed by a 5min walk behind talking AI sequence...

well...that defines pretty much any naughty dog game if we are being honest man

Sure it does, spot on definition for platformers like Crash or open worlds like Jak II, semi open worlds like Lost Legacy or any of their competitive multiplayer shooters. They’re so overrated if we are beign honest man.

New ninja gaiden would be dope.
It would be fire but please, let Team Ninja handle it.

Kameo 2 would be pretty cool, but I have a weird feeling Sega and Microsoft got some type of deal. I think it would be cool to see Skies of Arcadia remake on the series X.

but please don't be "on par with Sony's 1st party"... I don't wanna sit in a bush and shoot arrows or throw bottles followed by a 5min walk behind talking AI sequence...

what is this game you are talking about? I played every Sony first-party game and not one was like you described them...

Apart from that: I'm really eager to see what Microsoft´s first-party will come up with. If there is enough that is interesting I will probably consider buying an xbox along this generation.

Two great picks. Both of these IPs would stick out (in a good way). Xbox brand would benefit greatly and I bet the games wouldn't sell that bad, either. There aren't a ton of semi-fictional WW2 dogfighting games nor Western RPGs set in fictional Kung Fu Asia nowadays.

Goddamn you guys just bought me back to some glory days...man I would run for a new Xbox if they had some OG Xbox titles coming back to life.

Honestly they need new AAA franchises, they've been relying on 6-7 gen franchises for too long and people are getting sick of it. I expect Sony to turn Horizon, Spiderman, Days Gone, and possibly Bloodborne, Ghosts of Tsushima, and Death Stranding into full fledged AAA franchises that gamers aren't already oversaturated with (like Gears and Halo). Sony also managed to reinvigorate God of War and basically turn it into a new franchise (leaving behind the baggage of the old). Microsoft needs to also be a console to play the big and exciting new games, not just sequels to known properties.

They've acquired some studios that have the potential to fill this role, and they have some of the best indie/AA developers now under their brand (Double Fine) so they have the tool they need, we just have to hope they know how to use them.

I still don't get the "lack of 1st party" complaint regarding their current-gen stuff. They had a good number of quality games, especially stuff like the Ori games, Sunset Overdrive, Dead Rising 3 & Ryse (technically those aren't 1st-party but they are ostensibly Xbox brand games), the Forza series, Gears 5, Gears Tactics etc. Sure not a lot of story-driven, single player cinematic style games like Sony, but does anyone complain about Nintendo not offering those kind of games?

Anyways, personally I wouldn't mind a GunValkyrie Remake done between SEGA and The Coalition.

Hell I would not even mind a Blinx 3 done by Double Fine and/or RARE.

Can you guys knock this shit out, real talk? EVERY thread devolves into this console war BS, it's boring. Let's try being optimistic and good vibes here 👍

I wish Gun Valkyrie worked on Xbox One! I don't dig cinematic story games very much but MS sticks out as a distant third in terms of first party appeal. Sony's spent the last gen slipping for me though and becoming too Western centric. Leaving Nintendo as really the only major first party stuff I care about.

I'll be curious to see how things work out with Obsidian/Double Fine moving forward however. I think Microsoft has potential though and I'm super impressed with Game Pass as a value so far.

I'd give them BioWare for Mass Effect, Team Ninja for Ninja Gaiden/Dead or alive, or DICE for Mirror's Edge.

Playground Games/Madden. Locking in football with a different team with a proven history of quality is more pragmatic than exciting but I can see it paying off big.
