IGN: Capcom's Final Fight Returns

Doesn't really look like Final Fight. It has more of a generic "gritty urban" look. And where are the pre-op trannies to beat up?

Would've preferred Cody himself and Haggar and maybe a more colorful style in tune with the old 2D games, but this definitely sounds interesting and the gritty look seems to be neccessary in the market for now anyway.

Beat-'em-up games sell in today's market only if they're fast-paced and have strong exploration or puzzle elements. (See Devil May Cry, God of War, et al.)
Final Fight was none of these. You could speed up the pace, enhance the combat system beyond hitting the buttons as fast as possible, add branching paths, and even add some puzzles, but then it would be Final Fight in name only.

As a HUGE Final Fight fan, I've never felt such joy (seeing the thread title) then such sadness (seeing the screenshots).
Where are the classic characters? And with the loss of the 80s look, it just doesn't seem the same.

This looks nothing like Final Fight and more like those generic urban games that are coming out soon. Everything just looks generic, especially the main character. None of the characters have the crazy colorful look of the original. Where's Andore?!
Plus, why the hell didn't they just update the look of the old characters. I would rather play Cody in his SFA3 prison garb than his brother who looks like the guys you beat up in the millions in the first final fight. I bet he's the guy who cried after the car bonus round.

When I saw "New Final Fight game announced" earlier this afternoon, I was really excited. Then I saw the pics and that it was made by the same guys who developed the wretched and beyond-awful FINAL FIGHT REVENGE.

I don't want a generic Grand Theft Auto rip-of, I want Final Fight. :/
Oh well, perhaps the other BEU Capcom is publishing will turn out better. Right now I'm all about the game coming from Namco, though.

It would have been better if they just made a sequel for the portable systems. It was pretty refreshing playing the Final Fight GBA game with the SFA sprites. They should have done something like that.
Oh who am I kidding, they would never draw new sprites. I'm still waiting for SF4 to be announced here. I'm just gonna sit in the corner and cry for minute as if Capcom abused me.

Holy god that game looks horrible. I'd much more perfer the kiddie look of the original Final Fight, hell I'd love to see Final Fight done with the Powerstone engine and use the same graphics.
