IGN completely trashes the DS

But, I've played so many games it's gonna take more than ports and good graphics to impress me these days.

it can be annoying to get a dose of reality when your living in a fantasy world.
btw, I'm hardly a Nintendo fan since my only console is a Playstation2.

What is this saying...... I...... don't....... understand! :lol :lol :lol :lol

So your friend took the PSP back to Japan or something?

Nope he still has it. In fact he's supposed to bring that Golf game tomorrow.

But you said you played Ridge Racers and weren't impressed. And that isn't a port. By contrast you played RRDS which is a port and liked it.

Yeah RRDS is fun. Ridge Racer PSP is slower and easier and less fun. I like it but I'm not sitting on here telling people to rush out and buy a DS so they can play the game.

There are six classes of cars, each faster than the last, and presuming you've played the game all of ten minutes you've only seen the very slow Class 1 vehicles. Get some real tracks and cars unlocked and then we'll talk.

You also forgot to mention RR PSP has better music, graphics, tracks, and control.

dude your "act" is already getting old. What does that mean? Let's see. Dont care about graphics. only console = PS2, only handheld = DS. Comprende?

btw, as much as you try to bait me. I'm not getting banned. I've stopped caring about the hardheld warz a long time ago. After playing it the other day, I'm convinced that PSP failure will be a self-fulfilled prophesy. I feel like I dont even need to get involved with this one. :lol

I have not played RRDS yet (though I will have it soon), but I am willing to bet the family jewels that there is NO WAY IN HELL it comes anywhere near RR PSP in terms of speed, quality and overall fun. IMPOSSIBLE.

After playing Ridge Racers, looking at screens and videos of RRDS makes my eyes hurt.

I thought the DS outsold the PSP during the PSP's launch week??

I though multiple accounts weren't aloud??

Oh wait, your other account was BANNED, see ya paris.

No, I still don't understand. This isn't even part of my "act", since I'm wondering how you can claim you have played "so many games" like you're a guru that can't be impressed anymore when you only have a PS2 and a DS.

Do I hear a challenge? Since when was it for users to decide if they're getting banned themselves? :)

I see! Well, keep it up with the "wartime" reports for PSP. You're definitely doing a great service cutting through the hype machine. I don't know what I would have done without your groundbreaking report on how the PSP screen is somehow smaller than everyone thinks.

Ok, but that's not the point. The point is you said it's going to take more than "ports and good graphics" to impress you; and DS Ridge Racer is nothing more than a port with even inferior visuals. Ridge Racers is not a port. And I haven't personally played Ridge Racers so I won't vouch for its quality, but the fact that you think RRDS has a good sense of speed negates everything else you have written to this point.

Boy you sure have come a long way from when you proclaimed only a few weeks ago that one of the most exciting moments in your gaming life was when Lik-Sang started shipping your Gamecube!

Which is why like 20 of your last 18 threads have been about handhelds! And why the last five days you've been doing nothing but trolling handheld threads!

So...

167,000 people think PSP is going to be a sure-fire success.
1028 -> 1029 people think PSP is not going to do as well as DS.
1 person thinks the PSP is a "self-fulfilling prophesy[sic]" that indicates failure.

I'll be sure to remember this! I'll make sure to bookmark it next to the comment about how the PSP feels like a stuffed potato!

giga, scan your receipt.

Haven't you been reading? Giga doesn't own a PSP! It's his friends. His friend was nice enough to bring it all the way from Japan for him to enjoy. His friend experienced no difficulty picking up a PSP. There were no lines and no pre-orders for the PSP where his friend went. Apparantely it's very easy to get in Japan according to seismologist's "friend." And then seismologist's friend lost his PSP receipt somewhere on the flight I'm sure.

You have it all wrong! Didn't he first say that he had one? And then reversed his stance and said he borrowed one from a friend? And didn't he say that he doesn't want to get banned!

This is all code! What he actually means is that he's already broken the PSP and playing it through pirate goggles! (Or eyepatches, as it were...) :D

I brought the PSP and six games and the DS and six games on the plane with me to America yesterday...

I hate to admit it, but I didn't break the DS out once. I spent almost all my time playing Ridge Racers and Minna no Golf.

I have to tell you, so far, PSP has FARRRRRRR exceeded my expectations. I was all about the DS in the 10 days it was alone in the market, but ever since PSP showed up, I just don't know anymore. I really just don't know.

You do know, man. I think you're trying to convince yourself that the DS is comparable to the PSP. It isn't. Absent the gimmick of a touchscreen, what alluring qualities are introduced with the DS? None. Zip. Nada. Zero. Dated out the box, the system is a slapped together response to the PSP, a handheld that, along with its ancillary features, pushes current-gen graphics. There is simply no contest. It's like pitting an average joe against Tyson in his prime. With the PSP, Sony isn't merely dipping it's toe in the water -- they've made a huge splash.

This clearly isn't right! A quick overview of his comments reveal that he did, indeed, say it was his friend who was nice enough to bring the PSP from Japan! Such a nice friend he has! And he was so nice to fill us in on his experience with the PSP. Apparantely Ridge Racers is a huge disappointment especially in the face of such fierce competition like Ridge Racer DS. It's really an unfortunate situation the PSP has got itself into. I'm happy seismologist is here to keep us on the right track.
