Now that the bloom is off the rose, Doom 3's garden doesn't look quite so lush. The levels in RoE are generally better and more varied than what we saw in Doom 3, and there's plenty of them to go around. If the rather basic AI and constant traps and monster closets didn't bother you much in Doom 3, you'll probably get a kick out of RoE, although I don't expect most people to be willing to pony up 35 bones. I would recommend getting it on sale or waiting until the price goes down. While RoE provides much more interesting and tactically useful environments, it still doesn't quite offer the challenges we've become accustomed to with shooters like Far Cry and Half-Life 2. And from what I've seen of Monolith's F.E.A.R., RoE's appeal will slip a notch futher, as the encounters in F.E.A.R. are consistently more satisfying and the supernatural element more effective, in my opinion.

He should spill more! More damn it! FEAR is gonna rock when it comes out and you know it!

If you care about Doom 3: RoE at all the review gave it an 8.4.

My gut feeling is that FEAR is going to be amazing! Maybe Monolith will be nice enough to offer Xbox 360 version down the road for those who don't PC game! No promises, though, so don't yell at me if Xbox 360 version isn't in the cards! :lol

Hey, I'm excited for the game. I think it will be a great experience. However, I have absolutely no faith in the technology behind it... :P

I don't want to simply play F.E.A.R.

I want to be A.F.R.A.I.D.

You will be. You will be.

We need to get a list of high profile FPS titles to be released this year. Of order on how I'm anticipating them:

1) FEAR
2) Half Life 2: Aftermath
3) Perfect Dark Zero

Trying to think of other ones right now. Isn't Criterion's Black due out at the end of the year?

Is the PC Doom 3 expansion packed loaded with larger playing levels? I'm loving Xbox Doom3 but the only bone to pick thus far is that the playing field is somewhat cramped-too many corridors and such. Boy would I love to have a few outside environments to play in,but then the game would probably chug all to hell with allot more demons in an open area...well the Xbox version would anyways. But other than that its been worth the wait for Doom3.

Doom 3 typically stays away from large, open areas...but there were a number of outdoor areas in the PC version (though they were typically quite short due to the need for oxygen tanks scattered about). Do you spend any time outdoors on XBOX?

The PC version is pretty claustrophobic too, for the most part. One of the things I don't like about Doom 3. Supposedly the expansion is a little more open in level design.

My list (regardless of platform):

0) SWAT 4, available now, soon in my hands :) Loved the demo!!!

1) Far Cry 2
rumoured, my friend from the scene has another friend who is supposedly working on FC2 in Germany, kinda hard to believe I know :( - it could be FC: Instincts or FC PC XPack, though.
I can't wait to kill some more mercs :)

2) FEAR
Yup. I want the SP part to be amazing, amazing!

3) PDZ
A launch title (!) by RARE (!!) for Xbox2 (!!!). Should be massive.

4) HL2:A
They could upgrade the engine though :( Remember those promised ATI-levels? With ubercool pixel-shader effects?

5) STALKER
Ehh... I think they lost the opportunity to make something really BIG.

6) Killzone 2
Screw you haters! (probably Xbox playas ;p) Game was good, had its moments. Killzone 2 should be quite a bit better.

...

99) Doom3: RoE
Sorry, id: Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again!!!

For the most part its as cramped as the last one. And this game is easier thanks to the artifact. I agree with the score of the reviewer. End boss is a ghey fight too.

Ok,thanks for the info about the expansion pack. Sounds sorta like more of the same i dunno. I hope that somehow these new levels would make for downloadable(I'm willing to pay for them) content for Xbox live but probably way too big though.

Oh so you do spend some time out doors on the Xbox version, haha very nice. Thanks for the confirmation.
