Cyberpunk 2077 is a launch game for Switch 2 - here's how developer CD Projekt Red got the ambitious open world running on Nintendo's new hardware. We spoke to Charles Tremblay, VP of Technology at CD Projekt Red, all about the technical details, top-secret new handware from Nintendo with the Switch 2, and how this impossible port was made possible thanks to Nvidia's DLSS system, and more.

"Steam Deck verified" became a meme itself. lol :messenger_grinning_sweat:.

Also, that last remark from IGN in this vid is some next level bs. They don't know what they are talking about.

Id say witcher on the og switch was an impossible port not this on new hardware. Do they think the switch 2 is a potato as well?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. Nothing feels impossible about this.

The main thing that's impressive/surprising is that it actually looks decent visually imo.

They are literally saying this isn't an impossible port. Relax, it's ok. You can play other versions of it at 4K60FPS.

Relax yourself bro. I'm not slagging on the Switch 2 port. I'm pointing out the hyperbolic clickbait.

oh we are going to pretend the switch 2 is 3ds level of performance again and have "IMPOSSIBLE PORT!!" all gen for clicks.

Where is it? The headline isn't clickbait.

Too bad IGN did the interview. They should have asked questions like why VRR isn't working on docked and if they know what's the issue there.

*Switch 2 is more capable than they expected (Impressed with the hardware)
*Confirmation that just 1 CPU core is reserved for the system (Not 2 cores as previous leak stated)
*40 fps mode is available in docked mode (VRR in docked mode is matter of time?)
*Mechanical hard drive + less ram was the biggest limiting factor in the old gen machines.
*Changes to the engine to support ARM architecture.
*MicroSD is fast (Not an issue)
*Best handheld version
*Not powerful as an 5090 (IGN)

Yep,

Btw Ign statement should have been, for those who care about mouse support and / or portable , this is the definitive version over other console versions.
Instead of include those who only buy nintendo systems or want to play mario bs. Really dishonest statement from IGN.

@8:04 Sounds like he just confirmed TVs with 120hz capability will allow you to take advantage of the 40fps mode.

Isn't that basically what PS5 does with its games?

If it's not using VRR then it's using something that allows it to take advantage of the 120hz..? Or maybe Im confusing how this works.

I pre-ordered it for Switch 2 even though I have beaten it already on a 4090 PC, just to support them putting this out there fully on a physical cartridge.

Voting with my wallet, so to speak.

You're right, I didn't see that... you know why? Cause it's not the clickbait headline. I'm not even sure what we're arguing here, moving on.

I never said I was quoting a headline at all, now did I? The "impossible port" quote was from the OP. If you still don't get it then that's on you.

Eh?? Better than Ally X version how??

'How'? Because it's a bespoke version for Switch 2. There's no Ally X version. It's just running the PC game that's not optimized specifically for the X

Also, DLSS helps. It's a shame AMD hamstrung the Z2 Extreme with no support for FSR4

This was known since the reveal. VRR helps with smoothing out framerate inconsistencies. So, we absolutely need and deserve it but we won't have it.

You don't need VRR for 40fps modes, all you need is 120hz support. Now, whether the framerate is stable enough for the mode to work well without VRR/LFC is another matter entirely.

In the released footage there are lots of frame drops so I'll presume that Cyberpunk will run all over the place on Switch 2, like W3 on Switch 1.

No VRR will hurt these 40fps modes in docked.

I miss James and friends, we missed out on so much fun these past weeks. Maybe Neogaf can institute conditional posting, only allowed to see and post in certain threads on lesser bans.

We're talking about Nintendo.

They don't even care to remove the profile icon from your screen when playing NSO.
Pretty sure that's by choice/design.

You have to remember these are family machines that's sometimes shared by multiple users on one device. They don't want someone accidentally playing on an account that's not theirs...but yea, they should allow a way to disable or change the borders.

It is not magic.
The T239 is very close to a 3050 Ti in spec and with a few years of DLSS refinement since Cyberpunk 2077 launched, so it's not secret sauce its playable.

It will push near 1080p (720p upscaled) 30+fps.

Nintendo must think their user base are total retards. And by the way, widescreen NSO games don't have that profile icon.

I can't even play NSO because it's so distracting. Like who even makes these decisions. And why aren't people advocating against it. Don't they have eyes?
