IGN NBA Live 06 review

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/653/653545p1.html

8.5 Presentation
Full box scores for all of your games in Dynasty mode are a major addition.

7.0 Graphics
When players skate and it's not a hockey game, you'd think the problem would be addressed.

7.0 Sound
Kenny Smith steals the show, but Marv Albert and Steve Kerr are just a bit off the mark on their calls, and it can get annoying.

9.0 Gameplay
Superstar abilities add the individuality of the NBA back into the games, and it's a star quality that's been missing for years.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
With Player Evolution and the ability to mold your own team, you can do what Isiah Thomas can't, build a winning franchise.

9.0 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average )

Sounds good, hope the x360 version turns out as well

This is my favorite two-player sports game of the year so far. The Superstar moves really change the way you play the game, and for the better, as for the first time in years you can really tell the difference between players like Shaq and Eric Dampier. I also really enjoyed the deep Dynasty mode and Player Evolution. The ability to take a team like the Bobcats, develop your rookies any way you want, and watch as some young shooter off the bench becomes the next Reggie Miller is something that will keep you in the game until the real Bobcats make the playoffs for real.

Wow.

Awesome, every year this title improves. I may pick it up for xbox and trade up for the 360 version whenever it comes out. I love the video with the power dunkers where Tony Parker catches balls to the forehead :lol

I'm not going to get too hyped yet, Live has let me down for years. I'll wait to see what some of the veteran Live players have to say.

From IGN review for X-Box on the 3rd. page...

Sweet!

Graphics and Sound
Sporting an all-new graphics engine, these are the best looking Live players to date, but this game isn't anywhere near the quality of NBA 2K6's visuals

Bring on the X-Box 360 version of NBA2K6 and NBA Live 2006 ASAP...

Using the Outside Stopper steal moves, I was able to force 20 steals on Superstar difficulty as Stephon Marbury during a game with five minute quarters -- so while the Superstar moves add the realism of individuality to the court, don't expect to play any realistic type of basketball game here.

Again, why does this game deserve a 9.0 again? Oh...gotta grease EA's balls....all their sports games must rate above everybody else's. The EA conspiracy. Any sports game that is supposed to be a sim should not get close to such a high rating unless it is a solid sim. Looks like somebody took EA's load, and swallowed it, while not going to swallow somebody's else load. That's just pure snobbery.

no that I disagree with what you are saying... but loads and snobbery just don't belong together :lol

I'm not too sure what to think about these superstar moves and how they unbalance the players. It's a shame because I have to admit that after a while of play their AI made the players act more realistic than their 2k counterparts last year.

Also...fix the player sliding around graphic. It looks so bad!

Like I said I don't disagree... it seems like the person reviewing the game is like my cousin.. he loved it when he could just school the computer. and have a player with 12 blocks and another with 12 steals or any other stupid stat that doesn't happen in real life..

im tired of quotes like this every damn year, and every damn year there is no difference in big men.

:lol i remember dribbling the ball up court with shaq and doing the Isomotion moves on Tmac in the open floor. I would also guard mcgrady in the open floor with shaq, he couldn't blow past me.

You were doing that against me! Fucking Shaq was a shutdown defender on guards.

:lol :lol :lol That was horrible. NBA games are the hardest to make realistic, and so....

I'll probably end up waiting till 360. I think Live's gameplay will be good enough, but add on next-gen graphics and it'll be a must-buy. Hey, if you're a Raptors fan you take pleasure in the pretty pictures, since your team stinks.

Meh.

A problem I see with the Superstar system is that they will give the Superstar thing to players who don't neccessarily deserve it, simply because they're the best player on their respective team. I can see Chris Bosh and JJ on the Hawks getting Superstar ratings when they haven't really earned it yet.

I'm still looking forward to this over NBA 2KReinvent the Wheel, though.

P.S.: This is about three years too late, but does anyone know how good NBA Shootout 2003(the one with Ray Allen on the front) is? I saw it for 10$, and when I saw it had a Create-A-Dunk feature I almost bought it on the spot. However, the reviews for it are shit.

Well for you LIve fans you can go get it tomarrow....

Im gonna wait and buy 2k, it just looks like the better game to me this year...
