IGN: New IP for Revolution

For launch, all they need is one new IP. Hopefully, they'll follow up with alot more throughout the Rev's lifetime.

It sounds like Revolution is shaping up to have a kick ass launch though, especially compared to what GC and PS2 launched with.

Metroid Prime 3? SSBM Online? New Nintendo franchise? Possibly a new Mario?

I think that's a little better than Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race, and Rogue Squadron.

Cool.

Something new they can milk for the next 20 years.

Please if one company milks its assets every generation, it's sony

what did we get 4 ratchet games? 4 jak games? 3 sly games? All of them in a single generation?

Do not confuse character uses with milking

In 22 years nintendo has made 3 mario games for nes, 2 for snes 1 for n64 1 for gc and 2 for GB that's 9 games in 22 years with just one mario game in the last 5 years.

Sure Nintendo ported them to the GBA, but people who bought them mostly never played the originals so I don't see a problem here

Playing Tennis or golf is funnier when playing with the mario crew or the HSG crew. Why? Because it can be over the top while having nice characters.

Nintendo does *not* milk its games, it just uses its characters as well as it can, and they are the only ones that can do it, and that's a fact.

Sure the Mario party games come out each year, but I don't really see the problem, they are party games, and much like sports games, you have to keep them fresh, I rank them the same.

Good post. The other companies milk as much as Nintendo. MGA2, MGS4, FF12, DH8, GTA, FF7 have like 3 games already etc.

I'm not satisfied to be honest.

One new franchise at launch? There should be at least two, or even three.

That would be dumb to launch with 3 new IPs because they would just get lost in the shuffle with Smash Brothers online, maybe MP3, and the third party games.

If you launch just one (like they did with Pikmin) it has a better shot to be a success because it will get more focus and attention. Then you release the other new franchises a year or a year and a half later.

You people honestly don't know business because casual people aren't going to buy a system at launch with just all new games that they don't know anything about and since they are already shelling out the money for the system they won't have as much cash to spend on the games.

Nintendo has Smash Brothers which will not only sell the system but it will build up an online userbase and then you release a new franchise and have 3rd party games for launch. I mean do you think people are going to have enough time to play 3 NEW franchises, Smash Brothers online, and stuff like Tony Hawk and Madden at launch?

Explain PSX's and Xbox's sucess.

i agree and i think the reason for this is because they've pretty much killed gamecube development a little prematurley... after zelda there is nothing major left.. a lot of their teams must be working on rev content. so it's cool that the rev is looking like it will have a good launch, but it's kind of bittersweet that the cube has to die almost a year before it releases.
