AiAi and the Super Monkey Ball Gang Return with All-New Worlds and Party Games

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (November 10, 2005) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll, exclusively on the Nintendo DSTM System. Slated for release in March 2006, Aiai, MeeMee, GonGon, and Baby are back in true classic Super Monkey Ball style, with all-new gameplay control using the Nintendo DS stylus and wireless multiplayer modes!

The monkey madness returns with 10 worlds and over 50 new stages in the single player Challenge Mode. Roll the monkey ball around with the stylus or Control Pad to reach your goal and unlock new worlds. Play straight through the worlds and stages from easy to hard, or go to Practice Mode to rehearse the levels you find the most difficult.

"Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll offers bite-sized gameplay that's perfect for handheld gaming," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. "The Nintendo DS touch screen allows for fluid, pin-point control, making this an ideal platform for the series."

Those mad monkeys boast a total of six games in Party Mode for both single and multiplayer platforms. Challenge your friends to a Monkey Race or box your way to victory in Monkey Fight. And, nothing can be more satisfying than hitting a hole-in-one on Monkey Mini Golf or striking 'em down with Monkey Bowling. Exclusively for the DS system, are two brand new party games – Monkey Hockey and Monkey Wars – which will ensure that the monkey mayhem never stops!

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll is scheduled for release in March 2006.

I'm a little worried about the point of "More than 50 levels". The three console versions themselves set up a good 250+ levels. Even Monkey Ball Jr. had 60+. Maybe there is plenty to unlock?

Also, I'm not too sure how it works. When you move the touch pad, do you move the monkey, or the level itself? It looks like the level, but I can't see how you'd tip via the touch screen.

Still looks awesome though!

I remember the TGS impressions were not the greatest. Hopefully they got the kinks all worked out.

I really hope this game ends up turning out well. Big fan of the other versions but so far it looks as if this is lacking polish. Still a good amount of time till release so there is hope!

I'm desperate for some more Monkeys, but this seems like a bastardised Monkey Ball, from control, to style, and even the music. And I don't want to play the same levels I've been playing for years! Even if there are some new ones along the way.

Sega better be working on an all-new Monkey Ball 3 for the Revolution's launch ...

Are the monkey and the ball cell-shaded 3d models or sprites? They look like sprites to me and thats kind of crappy...

Im 100% sure they're sprites as well, and it looks stupid.
