And, if all else fails, there's always Maxim.

For the love of god I pray Isamu is asleep and this thread gets pushed down before he wakes

*hits "submit reply" and bumps thread*

Muahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The fact that there is a woman in the intro is an instant 4/5 from Maxim.

Not before i finish chatting with RR6 :P

I am kidding BTW. I just want to see Isamu's reaction.

Strange. I think they've pulled the review. Must have made a mistake.

IGN supposedly has a "surprise" review going up after midnight that is not Perfect Dark Zero for a game that has "blown them away." Most people assume it is King Kong (because IGN has said they have the US exclusive for Monday). But still... a surprise review? Outside of an unannounced or unexpected game making launch, what the heck could be so surprising? It could be the Ridge Racer 6 text, for all we know. Then again, the score has already been let out of the bag, and it is hardly indicative of a game blowing anyone away.

I certainly expected a 8...I am a huge RR fan but since the beginning I didn't go berserk at RR6 even though I have to admit that I was thinking on getting a X360 just for this. I doubt isamu will go crazy when he knows it, of course he will just say otherwise, but considering he wasn't even thinking on getting it until MS released a TFF wheel for the system and he had a 60" screen to play it at 720p (yeah, never) well...you get the idea.

Oh yeah, there's SO much quality there. :eyes-a-rollin:

you serious? there are some quality games in that launch lineup, maybe not your taste but hard to not see quality there

PGR3, COD2, Kameo, Condemned, Madden 2006, NBA 2K6 are all quality unless of course the defination of quality has changed.

PD0 and King Kong is still up in the air

As for RR6, one 7 does not mean it can't be quality

You could be 'blown away' in a bad way I suppose.

Then again the RR6 score is probably just a non-RR fan reviewing it. I mean I understand that many love RR and all, but if I had reviewed the PSP game I'd give it around a 7/10 with maybe a bonus point for having amazing graphics on a portable. I already bought RR6 in preperation for tomorrow night, but I don't expect it to be better than a 7/8 as a non-RR fan. I've never liked the handling in the games as the cars feel like they are made out of paper and slide so unrealistic that it makes the Sega arcade racers look like sims in their drift handling. But that's just me. I'm sure Ridge fans will love it.

Ridge Racer as a series... to me... has always been a "8" ya know... it has that "great" feel... it's definitely better than good "7" thanks to it's style, unique gameplay and incredible presentation... but it's never really pushed itself to be superb "9" (maybe the first... or RR Type 4), and in no way is the series revolutionary "10"... it sticks to the classic arcade style approach... which is why there are die hard fans like isamu still around.

so RR will always have that "8" feel to me... until it re-invents itself into a whole different beast.

it's not quake 4

It's PST, and it's not Quake IV. And though I'm tempted to tell you it's PZD, it's not that either. However, I have been playing Quake 4 all day. It's surprising me. The game looks really clean, sharp, and high poly. The envronments in the first half of the game are vastly empty, but they as you dig into the Strogg core, it's gets really messy and nasty. The game plays like a slightly faster paced Doom 3, and it cannot help but look and feel a LOT like Doom 3. Makes sense, given its using the same engine and it's Id and Raven.

Take some pics on the XBR960 when you get to play it...Just curious to see how it looks on a decent TV and not a Samsung shitty display ;)

Sure, but when I point my digital camera at my tv I get a huge line across the middle. How do avoid that?

I was going to buy this... as someone who first got into R via Ridge Racers on PSP, is this still a worthy purchase? I hope so. =/

Same happened to me...I guess that's because the different refresh rates between the camera and the TV. Mine had an option to change it. However it's kinda curious this happens to you that own both an NTSC camera/TV. It happened to me when taking RRV PAL pics with my camera, the TV was running at 50Hz while the refresh rate of the camera was at 60Hz. Even though I didn't touch anything that line ended disappearing...unless I was filming video...in that case the nasty sync lines appeared. On the other hand, I captured some DMC3 JP videos and no problems appeared, since both the camera and the game worked at 60Hz...Well, that's my theory...perhaps it's wrong but it made sense to me.

What do you mean by the refresh rate of a camera?
Camera speeds are measured in the time the shutter is open.
Usually you get a line across TV pictures because the shutter is open for such a short time it can see the TV picture as it is being scanned in, which the human eye cannot detect. If you slow down the shutter speed, you can get rid of the line.

Thanks. I'll try that next time.

Yep. That's why the line never appered to me when doing still pictures and not video recording. However on the "preview screen" it appeared and I guess that was because the refresh rate. I didn't explain myself correctly :P Anyways I am not a hardcore photographer...most of the time I press the button and run away. I leave tweaking to others.

Not to say that this is confirmation, but the game really doesn't look all that interesting in videos. Then again, I've never been a big fan of this series.

Why did you buy this game when it sounds like you really aren't a fan of the series in the first place? :)

BULL FUCKING SHIT
It better have some valid points cause I don't want to play that PGR3 shit like omfg "hay you're doing great here's some fucking kudos" nah i want to be racing and shit and not spending all these fucking kudos points. when was the last time to walked into a fucking dealership and said "hey buddy here's my kudos points". nah that shit doesn't happen fuck pgr fuck ign

:lol

What would be the pointing in linking to a review that does not exist? Does this happen often at IGN and is it normally accurate in terms of the final review score?

Because it's a fun, quick arcade racer to play when I don't really feel like putting a lot of effort into the race like PGR3.

Well, and that it's 60fps, 720p, with great art. A combination that is very visually appealing to me.

And it's not like I don't like Ridge. I'm just not a big fan of the series so I get bored of the RR games fairly quickly. But it'll be fun for a little :)
