I don't typically ignore people unless they're a true idiot and it's consistent every time they post, in which case I don't think there's an issue with it. It's not about power trips or fragility, or at least not in my opinion, it's more like choosing not to head into a specific neighborhood when you go somewhere just to avoid the mouth breathing morons bad elements.

I do think it should be used sparingly though. Don't wanna get in the habit of eliminating everyone from your life who disagrees with you, that causes narrow mindedness and myopia.
 
When I block someone there is really virtually no chance I'd ever find redeeming value in any of their posts ever again. These people aren't going to he making a post I don't want to miss in any timeline.

In my opinion blocking is usually a bitch move. It's like blocking all the opinions you don't like on Twitter until you have the echo chamber you want.

I've only put a few on ignore ever here because all they did was engage in gaslighting, bad faith arguing as a troll tactic. Guess what, they aren't making an OT later.

If I had the option in real life, I would totally put half the assclowns at my job on ignore. So when I get the option here, I live out my wildest misanthropic fantasies. My Ignore list is a thriving city of rejects.

I don't have anyone on ignored and I've never really considered it. Someone that I disagree with about one thing might have something interesting or funny to say about something else. Also, they're just posts. You can scroll past them.
 
I only recall ignoring 1 person here. The one regularly posts but said something i thought was so abhorrent and backwards that I basically done wanna hear their take on anything afterwards.
 
I've never put anybody on ignore. It seems like such a snowflake move. If there is a poster who I find insufferable, I'm usually not the only person who thinks it, and so they almost always eventually get themselves banned.

It's not about getting triggered, it's about not wanting to pay any mind to trolls. It's wasted space in threads between the relevant stuff I want to actually hear from others. In my defense, I only do it for the worst of the worst though, I don't just ignore someone for saying something I disagree with, it's more so reserved for actual trolls with me.

I once put Danjin44 Danjin44 on ignore because he was posting One Piece gifs and spoiling stuff for me. You don't play around with that shit man.
But I unignored him after like a day lol. Dude's cool and SMT bros are valued and respected.

Aside from that, I have like 10 people on ignore. Some furry dude whose avatar I find disgusting to look at, that dude who always writes in green text and a few neurodivergent dudes for whom I do not have the necessary special education qualifications to adequately speak to.

Having arguments is cool and fun, but if all the other part is capable of doing is freaking out and hurling insults then what's the point?

The users who put people on ignore are usually the ones can't accept any criticism/rejection of their point of view.
