I'll take Zeldaton for a thousand Alex.

Considering the lacklustre showing of all 3 next gen consoles:
me said:
Revolution showing no games, literally.
Sony showing no games, pre rendered hype machine garbage.
MS showing games, but are underwhelming and not playable.
No playable next gen games for any of the next gen machines, despite the imminent release of the 360 THIS NOVEMBER!

Considering all of that, I've got to wonder why this forum is flooded with everything EXCEPT games that were actually on show and playable at E3?

One game comes to mind - Zelda Twilight Princess. Game of the Show. Period. One of the best looking games of this generation, one that easily gives some Xbox360 games a run for their money and one of the most popular and respected series in the world of videogames.

Simultaneous worldwide release in 2005 and coming with a collectors edition.

Have we all taken a look at the incredible demo's Nintendo has available for this game? If not, get to it. Holy shit! It looks absolutely amazing.

The horse battles on the open field and the jousting looks incredible. The lighting, effects, emotion, animation, and combat all look absolutely terrific.

I love the new ability they have given the boomerang. Looks great!

Some of you probably hate Nintendo, hate Zelda, have never played it (would rather play Dark Cloud) - that's fine. No argument with you at all, to each their own. However, to ignore the Game of Show so that we can discuss Thursdayton or pre-rendered 'gameplay' from Killzone2 is simply ridiculous.

E3 isn't just about hardware, it's mostly about games - as is the industry - regardless of what MS, Sony or Nintendo want to tell you.

As a homework assignment, we should all pick our favorite playable game from E3 and make a thread about it, regardless of how long it stays alive.

Zeldaton - the true defining moment of E3. Is it stupid to try and suggest that in the face of Xbox360, PS3, Revolution and Thursdayton? You bet, no one will go for Zeldaton - but I'll take Zeldaton over all of the aformentioned E3 highlights, thank you very much.

Where was a collector's edition announced?

Did you say jousting? Link me a vid.
I'm not sure where my brother got them, he just brought a bunch of e3 vids from work (i'm on 56k haha).

It was video interspersed with Anouma, Miyamoto, Bill Trinen and some other guy asking questions in a roundtable format with all of them sitting in director chairs.

Sorry for not being able to provide a link.

I've been trying to keep my excitement for this game down, but it's been damn impossible due to the new details at E3.

I love Zelda and can't wait to play the full game, but based on what I saw at the Nintendo booth, I'd say that calling the game the best looking this generation is a bit hyperbolic -- though "best-looking" is a matter of taste pointless to argue.

It's in the 30 min IGN Insider video. The big face off on the bridge, where Link is on horseback and the boss is on a huge boar.

Could you be a doll and link me to that video? Is it insider?

I believe I said 'one' of the best looking. Yep, yeah I did. :)

I know what you mean. I love Zelda, but up till E3 I was able to have a somewhat 'meh' feeling associated with the new one. Excited but not frothing.

E3 has changed that. :)

the horseback boss battle has the jousting part as the final phase of the battle. after hitting the boar rider couple of times, he will ride and jump over a wooden fence onto a long bridge. link follows, but then a bow-wielding orc shoots the fence - lighting it ablaze. so now link and boss are sealed off on the long bridge. then on the bridge with the sunlit background, link jousts with the boar rider boss. its amazing! you get a glimpse of it on the official trailer - the last 2-3 secs

I hope Xbox360 has some good launch titles because with gamecubes being so cheap and Zelda releasing, MS might find that a hard combo to crack.

Looks so fucking amazing.

Zelda is absolutely the only reason E3 is open right now. These next-gen consoles are all hype right now. And yeah, it's definitely odd that 360 isn't playable. Very strange.

Huh?

I played NFS: Most Wanted, Full Auto, and Test Drive Unleashed for Xbox 360. I also watched a bunch of people play Condemned and Kameo with Xbox 360 controllers.

I'm confused.

So am I. I don't think we both imagined playing those games.... Maybe there is another crappier "E3" being held somewhere in the city. Maybe at some dude's basement.

Bullshit. its a high profile system launch. sell out is all but guaranteed.

Nintendo releases big titles head to head with other big titles/system launches so they don't take a hit on their normal monthly software sales. Xbox 360 will sell big and so will zelda

i've spent the last few days reading impressions and downloading as much stuff as i can for all the consoles, and without question, the best game is zelda tp.

it's beyond good, it's the most staggeringly stunning achievement in videogames!

there are more graphically powerful games but that's it, zelda ownz in every other department.

art direction - the best i've ever seen
dramatic tension - the most convincing i've ever seen
musical orchestration - the best i've ever heard
gameplay - next gen!!! truly innovative and seamlessly implemented.

it's the most cinematic game ever!

i expected it to be good but not mind-blowing!!!

when it comes to games i'll be able to play over the next year [based on e3], nintendo wins easily.

:o Holy CRAP!

ok i have seen too much. 1/2 of that movie is more than enough spoilers for me. i knew i was getting it anyways.

that gameplay footage is hot and MATURE. you lash the horse instead of feeding it carrots. :lol

What really has me pumped for this game is the orchestrated music. Its such a surprise from nintendo. I never thought this game would have it. and BAM!, incredible, amazing orchestrated music from IMO the best music composer in the industry. That alone (net taking everything else into account) is Zeldaton for me. Fuck I want this game.

I agree with the Zeldaton thing. I'm not surprised that Nintendo didn't pump their show up with a bunch of next gen stuff--this generation isn't done for them despite the sluggish 3rd party support. The GC is getting a nice last hurrah.

I really just love how they have upped the interaction with NPCs and created such a dramatic feel from the horseback battles. It's just steps above what OOT presented. Those were probably 2 of the biggest things OOT lacked in: character interaction, and an uneventful Hyrule Field. They fixed both of them with 4 demos :lol

Now, we just need difficult dungeons, tho that Forest Temple was okay(being the 1st dungeon in the game), but more like an easy tutorial like Deku Tree. If Aunorma is sticking to his word, then the difficulty level should start scaling up from one dungeon/area to another

Wow. To call this game a mere epic would be an insult. It's like Nintendo held no punches. This game gives me faith in the future of Nintendo but just about every interview makes them seem like they are more clueless than ever before.
Wholly agreed.

Maybe not clueless, but.... doomed. They've dug themselves into a whole and it's like they think they need to be as niche as possible in order to survive. They need popularity to attract the third-parties..... but they need third-parties to attract popularity. So they're fucked in that department. And their fanbase, as Miyamato mentioned, wants both the same franchises... but new ones.... yikes, they're just in a very bad place right now and I don't see it getting any better. I personally wish they'd just drop the hardware and attach themselves to either the 360 or PS3, so long as they're given freedom of design.

Did anyone mention that with the minor enemies in Zelda, you don't actually have to deplete their energy to kill them? All you have to do is stab them with a move that stuns them or knocks them to the ground and "finish him" will pop up. You stab them accordingly with a nice finishing animation and poof, they're gone. :)

No matter how good it is, its limited by the lack of Gamecube sales. I say that the sales will be somewhat higher than WW, but not significantly. Nowhere near Halo territory. I mean how mayn did OOT sell? or L2TP? It seems like the Zelda games are great but they don't sell like a Halo or a good Final Fantasy.

This is important, because we know how much better we feel playing a game when we know it has sold well.

*cough* rez *cough* ico *cough* bg&e *cough* someone is too caught up in npd threads *cough*

OoT sales>Halo 2 sales....I think?

someone please bring up a list of sales for the series...

Wow, someone has been out of the loop. I think Ocarina of Time got up to around 8 million, at least. One of the top five selling games last gen, I know that.

Who told you that 360 wasn't playable? They were all over the MS and Sega booths. Playable machines (or "Alpha" hardware) were always within reach.

You really don't think this new mature Zelda won't sell Gamecubes which are only 99 dollars with a free players choice game(usually, not sure what the deal is now)? I know three people personally who are going and buying Gamecubes just for this game, and I'm sure former Nintendo fans who switched platforms from N64 are going to get this. This is really a Nintendo's fans dream even ones who are no longer fully loyal.

I'm so excited about this game it's insane.

OoT and MM are my #1 and #2 favorite games of all time and TP looks like a heavenly combonation of both. There is not a shred of doubt in my mind that this will be the greatest game of all time, period.

I litterally get chills when I think about how awesome it will be...

Seriously... a used GC is even cheaper, about the price of a new Xbox or PS2 game. I can't believe there are people out there that hate Nintendo so much that they are NOT picking up a GC for that kind of deal. Even if you are not a fan of Big N's games, there are definitly a few choice games on that system that you can't get anywhere else... its a shame to pass them up and instead buy yet another PS2 or Xbox game for the same price as the console :)

Not hyped at all for zelda. I just cant get into what appears to me as a restricted game held back because of nintendo's family orientation. I am not trying to troll here, even i cant deny how well done this new zelda will be.

As for the graphics, well they are great for the gamecube but as far as giving the 360 or ps3 a run for their money, i dont see it that way. In the end i dont hate nintendo, i just dont like their target audience and cant help but feel its being censored.

If zelda was say, like fable but zelda i think i would dig it.

That's like making Star Wars rated R.
