What did you do? Capitalize the "t" in "the" ?

I capitalized the 't' in 'the'. (You don't use quotation marks for this purpose, by the way.)

I appropriately spelled the word 'inspiration'. The root is 'inspire'.

I changed the number '2' to the actual word it represents.

Fortunately, this isn't an English paper. :/

NERRRRRRRD!

And Strunk and White's would like to ask you about your criticism of deeb's usage of quotation marks. :/

See, this game isn't fun for anyone. He's not even being a nerd, just a know-it-all jackass.

I think most people would go with "properly" instead of "appropriately."
Function: adjective : especially suitable or compatible : FITTING
See, if you substitute "fittingly" in the sentence, it makes zero sense.
Function: adjective : strictly accurate : CORRECT
Substituting "correctly" in the sentence makes much more sense, hence you use properly.

Fortunately, you aren't grading an English paper.

No. Muse is like Radiohead, only without great albums, great songs, or any sort of boundary pushing or innovation whatsoever.

Radiohead innovated so hard they became Portishead

Muse is like Radiohead, only, ya know, not nearly as good, innovative or interesting.

goddamit, Griese!
Well what's it matter, Tool blows them all out of the water anyway.

The Bends > Anything Tool has ever put out, and most likely ever will. And I don't even like Radiohead all that much.

Unfortunately, lots of fans of Radiohead (not all, mind you) are pretentious twats who don't know a fucking thing about music outside of Radiohead, because it just "isn't as good." It turns me off to their music a whole bunch. Sort of like a great movie with a fucking terrible actor in it. I dig The Bends in its entirety, and lots of OK Computer and Kid A, but I'm mostly indifferent to everything else they've ever done.

Hey, wait, the same could pretty much be said about Tool fans. Fuck.

I think both bands are good, but not nearly worthy of the heaps of praise shovelled upon them.

Yeah, I much prefer the hip scenesters who constantly see shitty bands who play shitty music only because the bands are unknown, and them being at the show is sticking it to the man and they are henceforth cool and fit in with other people of their ilk who see those same shitty bands that are obscure for a reason, usually because they make terrible music.

just as long as we're bashing stereotypical fans =)

I like the fact that even Radiohead thinks Radiohead is overrated.

It's cool. I like artists who are humble.

Hey, I hate those fuckin' guys, too. Every time I go see bands at the local "happenin'" venue (ie, hip punk bar), I go scenester watching. 75+% of the jackasses there don't know a fucking thing about music, let alone the band playing. I hate those guys. They hate me because I'm not skinny enough, and don't have tight enough pants. I sure hope you're not trying to lump me in with them. Because I think shitty obscure bands are shitty all the same. I just like good music, that is, what's good to my ears. And it happens that my tastes ebb outside of what's considered "mainstream."

EDIT: And shit, the world would be a better place if Merzbow and the pAper chAse were on the radio and MTV.

well, i guess i should explain. I was laying down on my bed one night and was in desperate need of tunes. Flipping through my libary of music i said to myself. "you know what, i think ill just listen to some radiohead - i dont listen to them much, and i should give em a good listen to see if i can figure out what their magic is." I put on the bends and by the time street spirit was over, i understood. so i listened to all their albums all night long till about 6am and have been keeping them on repeat for awhile now.

for the record, Muse rocks.

I agree with these posts. And check out my name when you read what I say next, I love Radiohead... but Muse are something altogether different.

The only resemblance between Muse and Radiohead is the Johnny Greenwood-esque guitar on the first album Showbiz, and the fact that Matt Bellamy uses falsetto voice. On a lot of songs his voice is more like Jeff Buckley's than Thom Yorke's. He has a rediculously clear high range. On the last two albhums he's taken more influence from his classical favourites like Rachmaninoff. And as for the guitar, he's more like Tom Morello than Johnny Greenwood these days. Other people could say Greenwood was ripping off Joey Santiago, and the band in general takes a lot of influence from Talking Heads and all osorts of other bands. I wouldn't, because I think all of these artists sound quite different, but worth considering if you're gonna play the originality card.

And for the kind of guy that likes his angst and prog-rock with actual guitars behind it - you can do worse than listening to Muse. They write amazing tunes and they're one of the top live acts in Britain.. Origin of Symmetry and Absolution are gloriously over the top fun records. Listen to them before you dismiss them.

If they're still not your thing, fair enough.

Muse repeats the same friggen ideas over and over and over and over. If you are into music theory you can spot Muse ALWAYS using half cadences and going from minor to major at the end of every single friggen measure. This is why their "sound" GETS OLD!

The first time I heard the new Muse I was like yeah, this is GOOD! Then after listening to the album for the third time, the CD became defenestrated.

Muse wishes they had the electronic-programming song writing skills of Radiohead. All they have is a piano player that is obsessed with the pre-romantic period.

Step aside Muse.

Yeah, I agree....another this that sucks is people who wear shirts for bands they don't listen to cause its cool. Faded classic rock tour shirts seem to be popular (well, probably artificially faded reproductions anywayts)...

God, i'll never understand all the Muse love. They are easily the most overrated band on this forum. Yes, more overrated than those Toolheads.

It is simply fucking irresponsible and wreckless to just casually say Muse>Radiohead or something along those lines.

On Muse's best day they don't the talent and creativity of any Radiohead member's pubic hair.

That is all and thank you.
