I first went to best buy to pick up a nice slim DVD player to go right under my 30" HiDef LCD Display. I've seen plenty of slim ones and was going for the small APEX one, that is, when I caught sight of this one and decide to go with it. There was a similar Hitachi one but I decide to spend 24 more dollars for the image enhancing precision picture etc. on this particular model. As I looked on the box for the contents, I quickly realized there were no component cables. Then across like two strangers who suddenly fell in love before they met each other, I found these.

I remember these being a 100 USD back in the day. Now they are 59.99 and the 100 USD ones are the component ones with the THX certified sound cables included. Anyways I figured why not, spoil myself a little. Then as I went for the cables I found these.

When I first got my set I discovered how expensive DVI cables were. I went to Tiger Direct (their cheap retail store in the same cheap mall with their company headquarters) and bought their 17 USD DVI cables. Quality was even better then before except I noticed during some games some odd pixels. Mostly the tech demos like Dawn where her face look dithered. I was thinking this was some cheap NVIDIA trick and the monitor with its high quality display brought it out. Oddly enough I began to notice it else where and it started bothering me. Not so much with movies though just my tech demos, game tech demos (Far Cry, Doom 3) in peculiar places. Then I read some where about cheap cables especially DVI cheap cables. The cheapest DVI cables beside the dirt cheap Tiger Direct brand were 49.99 USD.
So I decided to grab them and all the sudden my mission to Best Buy to purchase a small cheap progressive scan DVD player (the APEX one) transformed into a scene with me at a register with a 74.99 Sony DVP-NS5, 59.99 Monster Video 2 High resolution Video Cable with Precision Strandings, and a 99.99 Monster Digital Video DVI 400 High Bandwidth Digital Video Interface with Gas-Injected Dielectric.
I remember back in the day people hyping these expensive (I honestly would say over priced but it feels awkward since I purchased them) Monster Video Cables especially on the old GAF and then some. Any of you still out there? Help me sleep better as to why these cables are better? I'm weak...
