Ok it sucks Stern won't be on free air anymore. I told myself I would never buy satellite radio but now i might consider it. Anyone have any pro's/con's for it they would list for me?

Oh I don't play on getting it now. This is more a preparation thing. :) Maybe I'll just go the DL'ing route. Also, is the sound quality a lot better with satellite?

XM use to have a device that you could connect to your PC and listen to XM stations through it the XM PCR I think it was called. You didn't actually stream the music through the device it was a sat. receiver but you used an interface and played the music through your PC. It's gone now because enterprising folks figured out how to rip music from it. You can still find it on eBay but it's pretty steep.

With Sirius I believe as a subscriber you can listen to the stations through your PC(streaming I believe, not sure I have XM).

So no it's not record and listen to later in it's current form. It's simply radio with a number of themed stations, as well as news, comedy, traffic, weather, etc. But you can see the name of artist and name of song on each station.

Both are completely different company's so you'll find stations with the same themes but not the exact same programming. Each company has a list on it's website of their current programming availability.

NFL folks might want to take note that Sirius has an exclusive agreement to broadcast all NFL games.

Also, many thought that when stern jumped to Sirius, there was gonna be a premium charge above the monthly rate you pay, but I read today on CNN.com/Money, and on www.wnbc.com, that his show will be part of the basic service, and not require an add't fee. Which is good, because if I had to pay another $3 a month above the $10 or $12 u had to pay, I wouldnt have followed stern to Sat, but since its part of the monthly fee, then I am most likely gonna get one for christmas 2005. Just in time to get it installed and get ready for Stern.

He said he was going to get three channels on Sirius and confirmed one would be part of the basic service. He also said he couldn't go into details on the other 2 channels.

I know that, but his show, his actual stern morning show is going to be part of the free service.

Here is the quote itself:

Stern's show will air as part of Sirius' basic package, rather than as a premium channel.

I got Sirius last Christmas as a gift, because Austin, TX is also a radio wasteland. I really dig it. Not sure on the premium channels things, but as far as I know Sirius isn't doing that right now. Would need to check the site to find out.

Anyways, its really cool not having any commercials on the music stations. Also, believe it or not, they do play some of the more obscure stuff and there is seriously like 3 stations for almost any type of music. I think I just about fell over when I scrolled through like 3 blue grass channels. (Never went back.. but hey it was a good sign. :) )

If you dig talk radio, I would highly recomend it as they've got a good spread. A Right leaning station, a left leaning station (Go Young Turks! ), and about 3 NPRs.

Good stuff.. sorry rambled here, but Sat radio gets knocked alot and I have been nothing but happy with it. Felt the need to just pipe up. Going back to lurking..

Sirius has the NFL Network also. It's also 3 bucks more than XM's monthy fee, but the radios for Sirius are alot cheaper.
